in terms of content consumption, this is like getting the population hooked on coca cola (tiktok), banning it, but keeping pepsi and RC cola (Ig reels, youtube shorts) available in every store

More like getting the population hooked on imported soda, banning it, then bugging customers fridges as well as their microwaves and stoves so they can be charged with a crime if any future foods or drinks from non-approved countries are detected in the kitchen

Punk? Woah there no need for hostilities

I’m just pointing out that this could pass the senate because 150 House Democrats voted to pass this bill. They need 60 votes for it to pass the Senate and there is a chance that they will pass it as well

I don't think IG reels or shorts will completely take over as people assume, atleast if they remain the same as they are now.
When tiktok was there in my country, many teens were themselves making tiktoks. When it got banned, they did switch to reels eventually (and the older crowd to shorts) but those are more dominated by actual creators than the normal public (atleast in comparison to TikTok).
They're both pretty huge but not as big as TikTok was.

  • For the better ofc. Tiktok bait music is TRASH

Lmao acting like YouTube reels isn't just going to fill the gap

    Or Instagram reels

    Or Facebook reels

This s***s all inescapable and the only way it ends is if the US bans short videos, but that's too much freedom to lose

gotta go through the senate first

    and neither tbh.

niggas would just use reels more

Biden said he sign it if it comes to his desk and you know the democrats are going to support anything he will, and the senate is democrat led right now. So I see little chance this doesn’t pass the senate.

They won't have the same impact, because it'll be used like a feature than being it's standalone thing.

    Same thing with YouTube Shorts.

    It’s not done yet

Gotta go through the Senate, then the president has to sign it, then ByteDance has to sell it within a certain amount of time and if they don’t, THEN TikTok will be banned
