(Reuters) -Nvidia has received a subpoena from the U.S. Department of Justice as the regulator seeks evidence that the AI-heavyweight violated antitrust laws, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the investigation.

The antitrust watchdog had previously delivered questionnaires to companies, and is now sending legally binding requests, the report said.

Officials are concerned that the chipmaker is making it harder to switch to other suppliers and penalizes buyers that do not exclusively use its artificial intelligence chips, the report added.

Hmm I predict a shift in robotic roles for Amazon /delivery /grocery /fast food. It /programming devs etc.

Humans will shift towards more resource gathering roles for big corp, mining drilling /forestry.

Seems like we’re shifting into a mega corpo dystopian future

    And yall thinking bout s***bots

Can’t wait for the future when we can completely leave human interaction in the Stone Age where it belongs.

When 2030 hit we all gonna be in our hi-tech one bedroom apartments with everything we need. Imagine waking and drinking the coffee you just downloaded onto your iPhone 42 and hopping into your bullet coupe Tesla while you take a pre-work nap during your commute. Your Tesla takes you straight to your windowless office so you can avoid conversation with all of your co-workers. From there you put in a hard 8 hour virtual reality shift at your job, then hop back into your space whip and hit the Wendy’s drive-thru for that 4-for-4 that has stood the test of time. When you arrive back at home your thicc as s*** robot wife is laying naked on the couch waiting for you not just looking like a snack, but a whole f***ing meal. You finish your Wendy’s nuggets without the sauce then proceed to smash your robo-wife for hours. She doesn’t speak much, but she doesn’t have to. It’s been 7 years and the two of you have yet to have a conversation more than two sentences. It’s as if you’ve forgotten how to speak to her. The last real conversation you had with any women was in 2023 when you left your old human girlfriend on read after you received a text from Amazon notifying you that you new package has arrived.

As you stare at the back of your robo-wife’s perfect head, you grow suspicious. What are her wants? What are her needs? What does she think? Does she think? All these thoughts race through you mind at once and suddenly you’ve surmised that she’s having an affair with the male robot next door. A new model with meat like an Arizona can. Seconds later you nut. Exhausted, you roll over and pass out. You wake up in a haze. The smell of a fresh cup of coffee radiates from your phone. Another day, just like the one before has started once again. Good morning.

I guess humanoid style robots work in mobile or constrained spaces with no prior planning for labor.

I guess humanoid style robots work in mobile or constrained spaces with no prior planning for labor.

If they build the robots this way they can easily manipulate human-based environments like doors etc. That's the design idea behind it

We already have robot machines that are very good at doing 1 specific task

But general purpose robotics is now approaching it this way which has always made sense but was impossible until we have seen these AI developments

  • "People VASTLY over-value how important "the world is already built for humans" is as a value statement. It is a far easier logistics and engineering task to modify an environment slightly than it is to engineer a safe, reliable, and economical bipedal robot. Yes, this theoretical robot would be awesome if it suddenly popped into existence with all the capabilities comparable to a human. No, this does not mean it is easier to accomplish than adding small changes to the environment.

We already do this. Ask yourself, would you rather fork over a few hundred grand for a bipedal robot that can walk over your power cords without tripping (but will still probably trip a lot anyway) or just keep the cords where the roomba can't get stuck on them? Hell, your dishwasher get dedicated spot underneath your counter built for it. We didn't benefit from waiting until we could shape the dishwasher like a person. A biped is going to be overkill in terms of cost and complexity for 95% of the tasks it can do. Even when simple machines fail, it's WAY more cost-effective to improve them. Which do you think takes more engineering hours? A better set of legs and balance system, or a better set of roomba wheels?"

"Asimov had the best explanation, arguably...

It allows them to use any human tool or vehicle.

It's meant as a generalized form. Otherwise, each task would require an entirely separate robot."

We'll hope that the s***bots are cheap in the future
