    bossyyyyy

26 pages of fat folks arguing

  • Apr 21, 2023

Kinda crazy how the argument around weight and health is like a political thing.

I don't think fat people should be discriminated against for being overweight but seeing niggas get called right wing for advocating a healthier lifestyle is a bit much

  • Apr 21, 2023

I've noticed that whenever discussions like these where we talk about stuff like weight/weed consumption/porn consumption niggas always use the "who cares nobody's getting hurt" argument

and while I see where people coming from with it. It's fascinating to watch lol

Acknowledging that these habits can become negative shouldn't be a big deal and some mfs is gonna "who cares let people be happy" niggas into a detrimental lifestyle

  • Apr 21, 2023

I mean, I haven’t read the bill, so I don’t know what it entails, but from what I understand from the tweet, they’re just saying you can’t pass up on someone for a job just cuz they’re fat.
    That’s not too bad.
I wonder if it will have any negative effects on more physically demanding jobs, but it seems good on the surface

The whole “body acceptance” thing our current society has is disgusting. It’s a cover for people to be unhealthy.

No one should be proud of being unhealthy. It’s something everyone should strive to improve. I get that it’s tougher for some people because of genetics, but that doesn’t mean you should just accept it. Obviously making fun of people for their weight is not cool, but the whole mindset that people should just appreciate fat people for what they are and let them live their lives is just weird and detrimental.

Edit: this post is obviously not directly related to the article in OP, just a general observation about society.

As a fat person who has been working hard to lose weight, with mixed results, I think there’s a definite gradient to it.
Like, no one should be made to feel like garbage just because they’re fat. They probably already feel a way about it, and simply accepting them should be fine, good even.
That being said, I do think that when people start lying and saying things like “there are no real downsides to being fat beyond social prejudice” they are doing more harm than good.
We need to keep people educated about healthy weights and empowered to reach those healthy weights, since all of us being reasonably healthy should be the goal.
Again though, I think that fat shaming does more harm than good.
I always feel like a squishy centrist saying stuff like this, lol, but as with many things, it’s a balance

yea like bullying fat people is wrong as hell but some folks get super defensive and start saying the things you quoted

fat people makin my flights uncomfortable, the seats are already tight af,

    you wouldnt know that,

    you dont fly

    you not fly

    broke ass

  • So wait is it a bad thing to want fat people to lose weight? I don’t get it. Am I missing something? Did I grow up missing an integral piece of knowledge? I’m not even necessarily skinny, but like that’s my own fault and judgement. I mean, I’m so lost.

So fat shaming is stupid. Sometimes it’s funny especially if it’s someone who’s overweight just self deprecating. More than not it’s cringe if it’s a right wing nutty. But like, when as a society did we enter a realm of protecting and hailing fat people as being fat?

It’s definitely corporation driven. It’s so vapid and silly to watch the pandering. Most people’s hearts seem to be in the wrong place tbh.
