    nytimes.com/2022/03/18/opinion/cancel-culture-free-speech-poll.html

I don’t agree with the article. All I want to know is where was all this talk when black people were getting shot by the government for their use of speech🤔

Putting so much moral and political emphasis on immaterial freedoms in an economic system based entirely on control and manipulation has led to the problems we see today

Anyways f*** NYT and if you’re actually wasting money and time on reading their garbage that’s a loss on you

    tl;dr?

Pretty much: white people are upset they can’t say anything without consequences.

They believe that they should the right to say whatever without the fear of being shunned or ostracized (not by the gov, but general society)

Note: “Cancel culture” is just capitalism to me

What does this have to do with race?

"full 84 percent of Black people polled shared the concern of this editorial that it was a “very serious” or “somewhat serious” problem that some Americans do not exercise their freedom of speech out of fear of retaliation or harsh criticism"

However you define cancel culture, Americans know it exists and feel its burden.

    Study is flawed.

A black person could be afraid of “lack of freedom of speech” due to their boss being racist. While someone else can be afraid of “lack of freedom of speech” because they want to say racist things without consequence. 2 completely different things. Regardless, I have the right to oppose, silence or shun your views, that’s free speech. The gov doesn’t and that’s all that should matter.

And it does have to do with race. The majority of people complaining about cancel culture/free speech are white libertarian or right wing bros that want to cry about stuff like Rogan and call it anti free speech when people want Rogan deplatformed

Not a race issue at all

Its an entitlement and privilege issue which by proxy makes it a race issue.

I blame bots, algorithms, and knuckledraggers who still think politics is a way to salvation.

Unfortunate. Thought NYT was gonna have something real to say for once and talk about Americans having more freedom than they deserve

Looks likes it’s just more nonsense
