Hopefully soon... life has gotten boring
fck OBAMA
he should be hiding in shame like the unless a****** he was
BERNIE2020
I didn't say you were wrong to hate him I don't care for the nigga at all.
It's the fact y'all using what he did to erase what he saying but in my mind if someone right they right.
Sky don't turn green cause a nigga I dislike said it's blue.
I agree with his statement and alot of the people ITT who disagree rather then come up with a real rebuttal instead fall back on too "But he did this" which is one of my big issues with this s*** now.
There are people who legitimately have a point and then it's people who use it as a crutch to keep from actually responding to the point being made.
It extends beyond Obama and beyond it being used on imperialist making points.
Some folks using his record as an excuse because in reality they don't have a rebuttal.
That's wack to me no matter whose doing it.
What exactly did he say in this video that warrants any intellectual discussion or debate?
Nothing he said already hasn't been espoused by some edgy right wing nutcase on twitter complaining about "muh free speech!"
Just because it's Obama doesn't give the argument merit.

Of course the validity of his argument has nothing to do with the death and destruction that he's responsible for, if Hitler said water is wet that doesn't mean it's dry.
Nobody is saying that he's wrong BECAUSE of what he did, but it's quite ironic to hear somebody talk about how we shouldn't judge people by their past, whem that person is not being judged nearly enough for what he did in his past.
And we actually did see people make these types of "muh cancel culture arguments" for war criminals, like when Ellen did that bullshit with Bush.
Also it's never a bad thing to s*** on US presidents imo lol.
Obama shouldn't even be doing interviews he should be rotting in prison in The Hague with his buddies Bush and Trump.

Nah i disagree I think more then a few people are tryna use his past to get rid of the point entirely and it's something I peep happens alot.
As far Ellen goes I didnt care cause she's been fairly consistent with her opinions even if I disagree with em she had Kevin Hart on so folks shoulda known.

Damn yes, Kevin Hart and George Bush, definitely the same thing.
Bless you Obama

He had to pull strings to get his daughter a job at the Weinstein Company when that meant something and now that is completely worthless. I see why he pissed.
People always use that "who has cancel culture actually canceled" to dismiss its criticisms.
It's not even about the act of canceling it's the ideology behind it.
I remember when Kevin Hart got into that car accident and niggas was really wishing ill on him cuz of them stupid tweets he made like 6 years ago lol. Like.. nigga.
And the people who usually try to "cancel" folks be bullies themselves, and they don't even do it out of a sense of morality it's usually just directionless anger.
Niggas don't even allow room for growth or nothing.
Crying at who made this thread
The funniest thing about this is the hypocrisy. I bet if you go through any of the twitter accounts upset about what he said they were praising him prior to this statement, now that he’s said something to upset people he’s a war criminal lol.
With that being said I agree and disagree with him. Cancel culture isn’t real but at the same time the point he’s making stands.
1 & 2 are valid points.
3 is iffy to me cuz "woke culture" has been co-opted by corny white folks who just get mad at everything, with no solution, no plans or nothing. A lot of them are just white folks who just call out others to make themselves feel better.
And all you really need to do is spend 35 mins on twitter to see how 4 can be easily disproven.

Funny how Obama was everyone favorite just a few years ago, all of a sudden people wanna switch up
All presidents have done unfavorable things, it’s literally a part of the job
I vividly remember the Bush administration, Obama, and now Trump (I was too young for Clinton’s although I was alive then). Some of you might only know Obama and Trump.
The fact of the matter is, Obama was a great for a president. He was calm, cool, collected and made you feel safe and in control
I think it just depends what you want from someone in high office.
Obama administration from what I followed had great statesmanship, which is what you seem to be talking about.
But some people want more real change, which is something Obama gave some of culturally and symbolically which is important, and he should be praised for, but I think a lot of people now look back on almost a decade of him in office and feel like even if it was positive, it wasn't transformative enough. I think the reason you see people 'switch up' now, is because at the time there was a feeling he would do more as he went on and for a while, people were just happy he was there for cultural reasons. And now it's over and I think for some people they just think 'was that it'. During the second term people started to feel more disillusioned, that's just fully there now he's gone and people our stuck with potentially 8 years of Trump and he hasn't changed enough to protect people from what this administration have done.
People feel this way about Blair in our country pre-the Conservative government we have now (our version of the Repulblicans), because he didn't do enough to change the methods that the more right-wing leaders had put in before him. Although he arguably did a lot more domestically than Obama managed too. It's also similar because he has a foreign policy the left are ashamed of now.
It doesn't make them bad leaders, it's just some people think it means they wasted their platforms.
The other thing about Obama is he spoke about that kind of transformation earlier on in his career - so it looks like he either abandoned it or failed to make it happen.
it’s fact though
All presidents have done f***ed up s***, in the past 30 years Obama was our best president, simply because he was charismatic and made us feel safe and connected
You're completely correct, but some people still think that's not good enough.
As an outsider, I do kinda agree with them because he did imply he'd be more than that, and he never was.
But I also think sometimes the left fails to see the good, because their so obsessed with Atlee-levels of transformation. But that being said, do you really think he did enough? In our country with Blair people say he didn't go far enough, yet his domestic achievements are an incredibly long list, even tho his agreements with Bush were horrific. And it feels like Obama did even less with his domestic policy, while also having the arguably regressive foreign policy approach.
It's interesting that a lot of the frontrunners of the democratic nomination rn are willing to go further than he did and as far as it once looked like he advocated for. But it is obviously a very different time now over ten years on and some people think going further to the left will give you lot a Trump re-election so maybe he was right with striking a balance

In hindsight, the "trayvon could have been my son" comment after the murder of Trayvon Martin was one of the best statements Obama made. He got absolutely s*** on for it, but saying that comment was extremely powerful
