SLANG CASINO might easily be his best work yet: full album length, excellent dub/funk production by Yungmorpheus, Obijuan at his best with flows/lyrics, leaning into Bahaman culture with the skits, etc. It really feels like a standout and differentiates itself from a lot of other underground stuff by leaning into a different sound than just a dusty,
Griseldaesque boom bap sound.

Named after an important event in The Bahamas’ political history and its fight against colonialism, would recommend reading a bit into it, this article was good: thenassauguardian.com/the-authority-belongs-to-the-people-2
Having listened to the album itself, it’s a very interesting mix of boom bap beats and interludes of island music - makes several references to the Black Tuesday event itself with a track named after the ‘Speaker’s Mace’, etc. I really like Obijuan tackling these concept-oriented projects, feels like he’s doing it more and more, and better every time.
Gotta get into his discog
Would recommend SLANG CASINO as his most cohesive and impressive work, and SAXRED GIN as a much smaller but concise project — these two projects are probably Obijuan at his best, and are easy to find on streaming
Seen december get hype from other people too, a lot different to some of his other stuff, much more low-key/lofi — and more difficult to find these days

Oh thank bro appreciate. I'm familiar with him somewhat after him linking with YUNGMORPHEUS wasn't sure what direction to go in in to his discog.
This is a dope collab I never knew I needed - would love to see some more work/maybe even a full tape between Obijuan and Apex
Wonder if it will be on the next Obijuan x dylantheinfamous tape he’s been teasing?

Damn I’m interested to see what Obijuan’s own production is gonna sound like, he tackles other’s beats so well, definitely got an ear for them
EDIT: had a listen and these beats are really good, no drop off from his usual producers whatsoever - Obi can lay some really good loops

New album GUANAHANI just dropped — fully prod by dylantheinfamous, 21 tracks long (so easily his longest project yet), and the opportunity to order vinyl already

First project of the year, new Obi x NoFace joint
Obijuan and al.divino collab is just as cool as it sounds, very trippy beat and as I would expect and the divino verse is equally trippy. Also really enjoying the soul flip on Rake N Sxrape as well as the grimy horns on Tomb Builder. Nice little project to hold fans over, seems like Obi’s been considering it as a 10 min extension to GUANAHANI more than anything.

March joint with Argov is out
Really enjoyed this project, very interesting theme of the ‘codex gigas’, a medieval illuminated book which seems an apt metaphor for Obi’s ancient raps. Also apparently this book is infamous for its huge illustration of the devil. I really like when he goes for the medieval aesthetic, like ‘Eagle Feathers’ or ‘ODYSSEA’, seems to fit his music very well prolly cos of that ancient sound. Argov’s beats are really good, with ‘Feet of Bronze’ as a definite standout.
