I said earlier he had a lot of commercial success. It's overlooked he had like 7 platinum albums.

• Illmatic (1994) went platinum only in 2001 (7 years after it's release)

• IWW (1996) went platinum after a few months

IWW literally couldn't only have been successful of of the fans who liked illmatic buying it.

him having dre, havoc and Lauryn hill on the album + the message probably contribute to people buying it more and becoming fans, just a theory

I get what you say but the album was still top 3 of the year and deserved the award, there was no clear winner like other years
