Any video games from back then / your childhood that people don't remember / talk about like that?

Dreamcast / PS2 / PS1 had some GEMS.

I didn't play these during my childhood but I discovered them while in the midst of copping games for my older systems. These three interest me simply because they were apart of that survival horror boom from the 90's when RE blew up. So many games came out in that genre and I wonder how many of them hold up.

Blue Stinger was SEGA's campy answer to RE and actually features the VAs of Sonic & Eggman from the Sonic Adventure games coincidentally.

Galerians is the best out of these 3 though, it takes RE's Survival Horror approach but makes it about Psychics and in turn comes off as a pretty cool video game adaptation of AKIRA.

This one I actually played as a kid and not as an adult lol. The Bouncer a pretty standard beat - em - up but what takes it over the edge is the aesthetic, the ambition and the fun. You got dope RPG elements, sleek visuals that still hold up which is surprising seeing as it came out in the year 2000 or 2001 depending on if you lived in Japan, Europe or America, and fire character designs. Tetsuya Nomura who designed this would go on to make KH and you can tell cuz Sion, the main character on the cover is clearly a prototype of what would eventually become Sora.

Classic PS1 game that I still own. Doesn't play like a regular fighting game, focuses on strategically cutting down your opponent instead of just tryna get rid of their health bar, still fire though.

Fighting game where you weren’t allowed to jump (which, if you think about it, is far more realistic)

Fighting game where you could play as FFVII characters

It kinda feels like proto-Dark Souls. Very Zelda-ish too.

Yea only reason I know of the Kain series is cuz of seeing Legacy of Kain at Hollywood Video and being creeped out by the cover lmao

Don’t remember Vs. too well but I remember enjoying Ehrgeiz quite a bit as far as the controls, etc.

my aunt who was only a few years older had it for PS2. randomly popped it in and ended up having a ton of fun with it! even tho i remember only being able to progress so far cuz i couldn’t figure out what to do without objectives/objective markers
