What’s the one song that Mike Tyson used to walk out? I heard one version and it sounded amazing
I'd disagree.
Better Dayz IMO is his best posthumous album, and Until the End of Time was great too.
Everything after Better Dayz though, I kind of think is cringe.
"Loyal to the game," "Pac's Life" those "Nu-mixxx classics" it really went off the rails
When I was a kid I fwed some songs on Pacs Lofe and Loyal to the game but looking back, they didn't age well at all
It's like the record label believed that anything sounding old wasn't gonna sell so they decided to try to put it on new production but it just sounds so forced
Kind of a long watch but it’s interesting hearing ppl look back on the whole beef and how people are still effected by it

Makaveli era was different.
The Makaveli era was the best version of 2Pac. That was him at the peak of his powers, as far as his flow, delivery, lyricism, etc....
Come hell or high water, down to slaughter opposers
Just another lost soul, stuck, callin' Jehovah
Outlaw 'til it's over, brandish my strap, back like a cobra
I stay drunk ‘cause I'm a mad man whenever sober
That's one of my favorite opening verses to a rap song ever. Pac snapped on that s***.

Hearing Ashanti singing what y'all know about Pac's Life is hilarious. Cracks me up every time lol
interesting topic that doesn't get talked about enough.
Excuse for the long post but i got a lot to say about this
R U Still Down - Has some top tier highlights that stand strong in his catalogue - Do For Love, Only Fear Of Death, Nothing 2 Lose (top 10 pac), Get Money (even if the og is better), 16 On Deathrow, I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto (better than the og imo) but some of the remixed production is so weak is embarrassing. Like what the f*** is that beat on Enemies with me. probably the most butchered pac song ever. Along with bad remixed tracks and samples removed it makes the songs feel empty I honestly think for the most part its a pretty bad overall selection of songs. Theres actually a good handful of songs here that I just don't think are that good or worth releasing, This shouldn't have been a double disc. a running theme in his posthumous catalogue sadly. I could imagine when this dropped people must have thought this was them releasing the last songs he had left in the vault because it does feel like scraping the bottom of the barrel. Cut it down to 10-13 songs and its a great.
Still I Rise - I really like this one, It seems like they focused on actually finishing these songs instead of aimlessly remixing the vocals over any beat they could find. Even when the production is completely different from the OG its done very tastefully. Baby Don't Cry & Killuminati are done justice. Only issue is too much outlawz and needs more pac but thats just for me personally but hey it is a OUTLAWZ & 2PAC album at the end of the day so I get it. with that said that last solo outlawz song should have def been scrapped. Shame Outlawz just couldn't keep up with Pac when he got deep but I'd say this album probably did Pac's actual vision for him music justice.
Until The End Of Time - A small selection of classic songs with the original production left or enhanced and a few good remixes but for the most part its just another double disc filled with rushed remixes that are done poorly. For the most part these are songs that should have never been released or at least not in these awfully remixed forms. Awful attempt to bring Pac into the 2000's. This album drags so badly by the time you get to the second disc.
Better Dayz - A bit of variety than the last one and I'd say for the most part its the same level as Until The End Of Time as an overall album but I'll say theres some of the most shameful production so far on here.Piss poor attempts to make the production sound like 2002 radio songs. Its very clear Suge was not the musical genius behind deathrow if he was signing off on some of these songs. Whatcha Gon Do is awful. both versions of fair xchange are embarrassing. Glad we got Late Night & They Don't Give A F*** About Us.
Loyal To The Game - Embarrassing. I actually like the songs Em did for the Resurrection movie but this just feels like a bunch of beats he had laying around that got passed on by em himself, D12 & G-unit so he poorly stretched some random Pac vocals over them. His vocals are butchered. Ghetto Gospel is somewhat nostalgic for me even if Pac's vocals are dogshit. I dont need a obie & pac song in my life tho. sorry. Oh also the bonus track DJ Quik remix of Loyal To The Game is fire. better than the OG. shoulda got him to make the album
Pac's Life - Last money grab effort. completely skip. Sad way to finish it. Not one song worth playing.
You can tell that Pac had so much s*** left over and was a cash cow, but in the early 00's, Record labels and handlers were still largely ran by people not in culture which is why they felt they had to remix so much of his s*** in an effort to modernize it.
And I say that as someone who's a fan of R U Still Down, Until the end of Time, and Better Dayz. Those all have standout records, but it's obvious that the decision makers were very much people who who weren't around when these songs were being made.
Part of that is because Pac was so hands on and people like He, Johnny J, Suge, were dead or in prison but nevertheless, you give white people a bunch of "dated" and unreleased pac records in 2000 and 2001, that's like gold and so you do what most would do -- Give those dated records to the hottest artists and producers on your label and tell them to modernize it.
Still Ballin is Hardddd
Changed Man is Hardddd
Fair Xchange shouldn't have been touched the OG is phenomenal but it's okay.
Better Dayz the song w/Isley is perfect and makes me kind of emotional ngl. one of his finest moments posthumous or alive
Mamma's Just a little girl, late night, Thugz Mansion both versions,
My Block (Nitty Remix) is another one of his finest moments.
Yeah y'all tripping Better Dayz is awesome.

I really need to re-listen to that album, I was so used to MATW/AEOM I thought it was jarring
I liked toss it up/Hail Mary but haven’t really heard anything else outside of that

That was one of my songs lmao
Pretty bad tbh

Johnny J was alive and had production credits on a lot of those albums. Also im sure suge was around for at least better dayz and I wouldn't be shocked if he was the reason for the then modern sound of some songs. it was the last album of new material they could release under deathrow and deathrow needed hits and sadly suge never had the ear to know a hit. Dre knew the music and let suge do everything else. Hence why 98-04 was such an embarrassing time for deathrow music even though the craziness of it all was entertaining. Truthfully I feel they even gave outlawz too much creative control, they were all over tracks, more so then they were on the original songs at times and producing a few s*** beats.
At the end of the day its like you said. Pac was so hands on and whoever ended up working on it just didn't do it justice. I still stand behind that Quik should have been the main producer for one of those albums. You could tell he cared and had the talent to get it done correctly.
Hearing Ashanti singing what y'all know about Pac's Life is hilarious. Cracks me up every time lol
that song went hard back in the day, heard it recently. song has aged so badly

Lotta good insight here, and upon recent relisten I would def say that Still I Rise is my favourite of the bunch as it feels like a mostly cohesive project that completes the vision of what an Outlawz album would be
Back when I was more invested in this site I had planned to do some threads where I wrote up deep dives on the posthumous albums, but I feel like those glory days of big KTT threads with original essays/articles/historical lore etc are basically over. Maybe someday, though.

Pac snapped on this. If I recall correctly, this was the very last song that Pac recorded before he got killed.
"All Out", "Fame" and "Hell 4 a Hustler" were also some of the last songs that he recorded as well.
u ever heard the solo version? fire
!https://youtu.be/KamJm6GKLJEYes I love the solo version
rip the goat and shock g
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL2kTy2Xo2w&ab_channel=roacher420the second verse one of my fav pac verses. always preferred the og version over this shock g 95 mix tho.
