How we feeling about the posthumous catalogue these days?

I feel like R U Still Down, Still I Rise and the new stuff on Greatest Hits are mostly respectful and feel true to his material overall, but as soon as the 2000s start they took a nosedive beginning with Until the End of Time.

Until wasn't thaaat bad overall, but it's really the beginning of the end - Better Dayz is mostly weak, and then Loyal to the Game and Pac's Life are especially embarrassing.

    I'd disagree.

Better Dayz IMO is his best posthumous album, and Until the End of Time was great too.

Everything after Better Dayz though, I kind of think is cringe.

"Loyal to the game," "Pac's Life" those "Nu-mixxx classics" it really went off the rails

We can definitely agree on those last three... oof.

My issue with UTEOT and Better Dayz is that it feels like the vocals and the production are increasingly separate. Like, Better Dayz especially to me feels like early 2000s production with Pac vocals that don't really match too well, but the goal should have been more along the lines of letting the vocals do the heavy lifting and take all the shine.

Stuff like the Nitty Remix of My Block feels like it's doing a bit too much imo

interesting topic that doesn't get talked about enough.

Excuse for the long post but i got a lot to say about this

R U Still Down - Has some top tier highlights that stand strong in his catalogue - Do For Love, Only Fear Of Death, Nothing 2 Lose (top 10 pac), Get Money (even if the og is better), 16 On Deathrow, I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto (better than the og imo) but some of the remixed production is so weak is embarrassing. Like what the f*** is that beat on Enemies with me. probably the most butchered pac song ever. Along with bad remixed tracks and samples removed it makes the songs feel empty I honestly think for the most part its a pretty bad overall selection of songs. Theres actually a good handful of songs here that I just don't think are that good or worth releasing, This shouldn't have been a double disc. a running theme in his posthumous catalogue sadly. I could imagine when this dropped people must have thought this was them releasing the last songs he had left in the vault because it does feel like scraping the bottom of the barrel. Cut it down to 10-13 songs and its a great.

Still I Rise - I really like this one, It seems like they focused on actually finishing these songs instead of aimlessly remixing the vocals over any beat they could find. Even when the production is completely different from the OG its done very tastefully. Baby Don't Cry & Killuminati are done justice. Only issue is too much outlawz and needs more pac but thats just for me personally but hey it is a OUTLAWZ & 2PAC album at the end of the day so I get it. with that said that last solo outlawz song should have def been scrapped. Shame Outlawz just couldn't keep up with Pac when he got deep but I'd say this album probably did Pac's actual vision for him music justice.

Until The End Of Time - A small selection of classic songs with the original production left or enhanced and a few good remixes but for the most part its just another double disc filled with rushed remixes that are done poorly. For the most part these are songs that should have never been released or at least not in these awfully remixed forms. Awful attempt to bring Pac into the 2000's. This album drags so badly by the time you get to the second disc.

Better Dayz - A bit of variety than the last one and I'd say for the most part its the same level as Until The End Of Time as an overall album but I'll say theres some of the most shameful production so far on here.Piss poor attempts to make the production sound like 2002 radio songs. Its very clear Suge was not the musical genius behind deathrow if he was signing off on some of these songs. Whatcha Gon Do is awful. both versions of fair xchange are embarrassing. Glad we got Late Night & They Don't Give A F*** About Us.

Loyal To The Game - Embarrassing. I actually like the songs Em did for the Resurrection movie but this just feels like a bunch of beats he had laying around that got passed on by em himself, D12 & G-unit so he poorly stretched some random Pac vocals over them. His vocals are butchered. Ghetto Gospel is somewhat nostalgic for me even if Pac's vocals are dogshit. I dont need a obie & pac song in my life tho. sorry. Oh also the bonus track DJ Quik remix of Loyal To The Game is fire. better than the OG. shoulda got him to make the album

Pac's Life - Last money grab effort. completely skip. Sad way to finish it. Not one song worth playing.

@Bill_My_Zoot didn’t wanna quote the whole thing but loyal to the game/pac’s life was right when I was obsessed with him as a kid and never heard his projects get promoted and all that good stuff so it was a crazy time with me and my friends getting hyped and thinking he was still alive lol

So I was jamming to those 2 religiously and yeah looking back his vocals do not that style of production and sounds horrible in general

Need to listen to the other ones though! I think the only one song from the other albums mentioned was Thug’s Mansion
