Gave aethiopes another spin. Still not really feeling that project
it's such an interesting debate between Aethiopes and Church...I personally prefer Aethiopes though there's some very great stuff on Church...Aethiopes just has slightly better production IMO which isn't a knock on Messiah Muzik either...Remorseless is my favorite song from either album although Pollo Rico is fantastic as well
Completely fair. SUGAR MOLASSES RUM!

That's so wild to me, but respect for having a different take on it
Been obsessed with the Hiding Places - Terror Management - Church - Aethiopes run lately post-concert and I truly think he's the best writer of the contemporary era. Cormac McCarthy is the billy woods of writing a book, lets put it that way
Woods is legit on a legendary run that will probably forever be super under appreciated.

By everyone!!! Where are the Pulitzer nominations? Why hasn't he gotten a Whitman award for his lyric compilations? Where are the MacArthur grants? I'm not even half-joking. I'm sure he doesn't want half of em but still, it should be offered
Not to imply that woods is "transcending" rap or anything, he's just executing on a level that nobody else can, truly
No other rapper that I've heard combines a first person omniscient + third person omniscient voice to the successful extent that he does, to deliver the kind of stories he's telling. He has a distinct tone to the extent that you could do an impression of him, but he's not hamstrung by fetishes for things like puzzles and winking to the listener (sorry Lupe) or any over-reliance on specific methods to turn phrases (can't even say who I'm subbing here)
Sorry to be talking at a brick wall!

And the crazy thing is it doesn't seem like he's slowing down anytime soon.
Another album with Kenny Segal on the horizon, another Armand Hammer coming, the something that he and Nicholas Craven have teased.
His discography when all is said and done could very easily be something we'll just never see the likes of again. Unmatched quantity and quality. And he keeps challenging himself sonically. The production he seeks out is so unique and forward thinking.
