Imo is a lot more subtle than Shrines of my first impressions, but I gotta sit with this way more. I wasn't even paying too much attention to lyrics but more production.
Yeah I feel that. For me this first listen was a bit of a blur with some really crazy highlights. Brass hit me harder first listen but I know this is gonna age like wine
Armand Hammer setting the bar (again) for the new year
for the genre* 🐐🐐 s***
Man I want more Stonefruit/Wishing Bad out of this album. If they do another collab I pray that it's just a bit more experimental because that's my taste, but man it's pretty consistent to their other works.
Stonefruit is one of the reasons I'm a fan of Elucid. Anybody else and it would be cringe but he genuinely sounds like he's having fun on this one and it actually works well
Said "Okay" to save face, but she never forgave
It's only so many ways you can say grace, in truth
She'd rather cry at your grave, all black regalia, we back not speakin'
Back behind bougainvillea you can't peek in
Marginalia, busy with symbols and equations
The story too simple to calculate it, payment post dated
The pavement gave way to a thicket of thorns
Where the body lay naked as the day I was born
She rock my teeth in her necklace, gold blood from a horn
Ruby Woo facin' Mecca, hair disheveled and torn
She left what was left in a ditch, she dream of the s***She finished on top and howled in the crook of my neck
She dragged the bones home and built a bed
She drank Rosé out the skull, but held it gentle as my living head
The cover turned a lot of heads when I sent it in the group chat
This is some nasty s***
Props to Alchemist for switching it up and bringing gnarly ass beats like Chicharonnes to keep up with these two, this sounds nothing like Alfredo but still brings that Alchemist class
bro billy adlib game is hilarious man's comedic timing is godly
dont let them do it man, dont let them do it, youknowtheyregonnadoit
so if it wasn't for Earl we wouldn't have had this album
"Al, how long have these guys been on your radar, and how did the collaboration come together?
Alchemist: It was pretty much Thebe Kgositsile, better known as Earl Sweatshirt. He’s always putting me onto new stuff. I actually felt stupid, like I was under a rock for not knowing about them. I’d heard a verse from woods on an Evidence-produced joint with Mach-Hommy one time. So that’s what started my interest. Then I started digging into each of their catalogs individually, and as Armand Hammer. Their videos… anyone I put onto them, they have the same experience I did: they hit me up later like, ‘Damn.’ To me, at this point in my career, it’s fun to have that feeling of finding something I didn’t know about, and being able to put other people onto it, like, ‘Check this s*** out, this is the highest level of art.’ It started with me and woods talking; I reached out to him first, and was just like, Yo, I’m a fan,’ and we started building little by little."
can you imagine the goddamn alchemist hits you with 'yo, im a fan', this is pure craziness
figured it was earl who linked them which is awesome, hes been a day one for guys like billy, mach, KA

Yes they did
That was an anecdote I had shared over in the Mach thread. Attributed to September 2019. A few weeks before Terror Management dropped. And as revealed in that GQ interview, its crazy to think that just weeks after that Alchemist would hit him up with interest in a full project. And here we are.
They killed it that night. Everyone go see them live if/when you get a chance.
woods in the Freedom Man tee
ELUCID cracking up at 0:51
Such a dope shot at 0:55 too with the traffic on both sides. And the stairs at the end.
And that sample at the intro is the slickest entrance ever. Love it
