You need to put load that s*** and send it my way! Bought the vinyl but only the cd comes with the lyrics
Also early days but may actually be my favourite Armand hammer project
woods alluded to the possibility of making the lyrics available to purchase as a pdf
but yeah I’m sure they’ll circulate eventually—if not I got you
Yeah this might be up there for me too. But at this point, their work is all just so good—each is the best for its own reason tbh.
I just lost my cat y'all, sir benni miles holding me through this. Feeling very heavy and sad.
i know that feeling
stay strong my guy

saw someone on twitter describe Elucid’s singing on “Stonefruit” as Chief Keef meets Buju Banton
but forreal, I don’t know how he managed to pull that off
wish i bought the vinyl :~/
There's another 1000 being pressed I believe, so keep an eye on the Backwoodz site.

yeah the reception on his singing I’ve seen seems pretty hot and cold
I personally love it, it’s super emotive and raw
About to give my first listen. Have high expectations tbh
So did I and it surpassed them
hope there's not much flack for this, but i'm definitely way more into the elucid verses than billys. i enjoy woods' lyrics mainly here but elucid has it all for me.

I think they're both in top form but if I had to give one the edge here I would say its woods. Some of his most personal, hard-hitting material since Hiding Places.
100%. This feels like their most cohesive project, no doubt because of Alchemist. Verses are as good as ever (some of their best actually imo) over some fantastic backdrops. Way too many highlights, no weak songs imo
So much to dig through with this one as always. Can’t wait to get that lyric booklet
I agree with you that it feels like their most cohesive project. A step up from something I already thought they were among the best at.
The transitions and sequencing are faultless, as are all the little details and variations in the beats. Really makes the whole thing feel drenched in atmosphere. Every listen you're picking up new layers.
For instance, the way Al momentarily cuts the beat as ELUCID is coming in on Roaches Dont Fly. That clipping sound on Wishing Bad during woods' verse. The muffled underwater voice on Falling Out The Sky during ELUCID's verse. The whole thing is riddled with moments like that.
I think this, BRASS, and Don't Play It Straight all really excel at feeling like one continuous piece where every detail of the sound has been poured over. But this especially does to me.
I'm already feeling like this is their best work yet. I don't know where they go from here either, like do they go off and make solos? I think they've now really proved that they are better together.

That beatsperminute review reveals something that seems to have gone under the radar. Earl has a co-production credit on God's Feet.

This is completely fair because he f***in transcended this whole album, culminating in his performance on the outro. But I could see it going either way here, him or woods. They’re both just so elite it’s unfair

No doubt. In a way this feels like their most forward-thinking album—like the beats seem intentionally subdued/secondary/atmospheric in moments like Aubergine, Scaffolds, Wishing Bad. A testament to Alc’s mastery tbh. It’s also funny because this sounds like something AH would make a couple years down the line. Like this sounds way more focused than Shrines (which was admittedly kinda inconsistent in sound). This really feels like a next level album. It’s no doubt they’re the most progressive rappers out atm.
And agreed, the transitions are textbook Alc—seamless af. Makes for such an atmospheric listen, as you say. Just caught some background vocals on Stonefruit, and some little, almost robotic button noises in the beginning of Black Sunlight. Alc, man.
Yeah man these last few releases from them have all been so crazy. Like I still haven’t fully digested Brass, as much as I’ve already played the hell out of it. We’re all just blessed to be rap fans rn
I’d love some solos. Really curious to see where woods goes on his next one, after what he did on this and Brass. As far as Elucid, his work as Small Bills seems like his best, which is a great sign (although I feel like he’s best with Armand Hammer).
