Charles Eddie-Lee Hamilton, Jr. (born November 10,1987 in Cleveland, Ohio), most commonly known as Charles Hamilton, is an American musician from Harlem, New York City, New York. Hamilton burst out onto the mainstream music scene in 2008 when he signed to Interscope Records. Remaining signed to Interscope until late 2009, Hamilton quickly gained popularity by releasing very well-received music at a rapid pace, including a series of 8 2008 projects entitled The Hamiltonization Process and a hit single titled "Brooklyn Girls". Charles took the world by storm with his distinct sound, earning a spot on the cover of the XXL's 2009 Freshmen Class issue and being co-signed by artists such as Kanye West, Pharrell, and Macy Gray. He also shared his thoughts and interacted with fans frequently through his public blog, and was vocal about his "supersonic philosophy", which involves his belief that God is a woman and his love for music, Sonic, and the color pink. Later in his career, Hamilton would sign a deal with Republic Records in 2015, release his major-label debut album Hamilton, Charles, and appear on a season finale of the popular show Empire to perform his hit single titled "New York Raining" featuring Rita Ora. Since 2016, Hamilton has continued to release music independently. Over the years, he's grown a following of "Starchasers", a group of close listeners and supporters of Hamilton.

Hamilton's mother, the late Talise Moorer, a former entertainment journalist for the Cleveland Call and Post, exposed Hamilton to music at an early age, always assuring that he had an instrument around him and taking him to different music-filled events. Charles is also the cousin of the legendary MC Lyte. Naturally gravitating to the keyboard, Hamilton would later craft his own signature sound in a music studio inside of his former high school, the Frederick Douglass Academy. It was there, in 2007, when Hamilton recorded one of his most acclaimed projects to date and one that many consider to be a hip-hop classic, The Pink Lavalamp. As the final project in The Hamiltonization Process, the album was recorded during a dark period in Hamilton's life while he was dealing with issues such as d*** addiction, homelessness, and relationship problems.

Being versed in playing several different instruments such as the piano, organ, lead guitar, bass, harmonica, and drums, and being primarily self-taught, Hamilton has stated that he draws inspiration for his sound from all types of music, including European music, rock, soul and hip-hop. Charles cites Eminem, Incubus, and J Dilla as a few of his favorite artists. His production style involves a great deal of sampling, and he's carved out a niche for frequently creating records that involve unconventional or unique samples. Almost all of his music is self-produced. Hamilton's music is extremely personal and honest -- essentially his entire personal life is documented in his music. Charles is also a skilled freestyler, one of the many talents that earned him his considerable buzz back in 2008. He has stated that he's mastered the art of translating his metaphors into reality, and making it clear to the listener the difference between his metaphors and his reality. Hamilton has also honed in on the skill of writing entire verses in his head over the years, an ability that he observed firsthand from fellow MC and collaborator S.K.E. The Heistman and one that is prevalent in Hamilton's recent music. Charles also has an extensive catalogue of music that includes thousands of songs released to the public.

No idea, was wondering the same myself. I wonder if it was a sample issue.
