I think they found out mid rollout that 2.22.22 is coming up and they wanted to drop on that day to follow the “divine timing” bs they’re going with for this album, but they wanted to make it seem organic so they came up with this bs excuse. It’ll just so happen that the “label problems” will clear up around 2.22.22 and they’ll claim the planets aligned for this or some s*** lmao

I think they had the pow wow Ye was dropping that day and if he doesn't that day -EG could still benefit on this mystical number. I'm sure they wish they used that date in the first place.

I think also there is no benefit of dropping in January. it's a dead month, imo.

A lot of my favorites none of them drop in January. I think some managers think they can crack the code for January releases but it just isn't great month for Hip Hop.

Now reissues - the audience is established and the catalog is evaluated. Who cares when that happens?

Although I've never seen Zappa reissues in January. But they might have a motive because if you release something late last year, you want the maximum interest/streams in that before you launch another one.

The bottom line is I would NEVER release something in January.
