Can someone fill me in. Kinda lost. So America withdrew from Afghanistan then the taliban came in full force?

In simple terms yeah
Most supported the withdrawal so im not going to backtrack on that now, but it definitely seems like there wasnt effective exit strategies in place
Damn this is wild
Another exerpt of that interview:
"Q: And neither do you regret having supported Islamic fundamentalism, which has given arms and advice to future terrorists?
B : What is more important in world history? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some agitated Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?"
It's no exaggeration to say that this current situation of Afghanistan is a sacrifice the US was willing to make in order to fight communism.

yea that's why i'm confused. we been talking bout withdrawing for more than a while now and we did and the same people are against it. the outcome was kinda inevitable wonder what made them think otherwise
Maybe that’s the point
Here's the evidence to my point tho

was just reading about this in the book Washington Bullets. so many of the conflicts you see in the Middle East (and elsewhere) are a direct result of Russia, though especially the US, meddling in foreign affairs to establish their hegemony
Pathetic administration. Only cares about the good times and no criticisms. This is what happens when the corrupt media coddle people and grant them white privilege
The u.s. intervened because nations around that area such as Pakistan put pressure on the u.s. to aid them + the u.s. was just trying to fight the spread of communism in the middle east.
The unwinnable terrain + reagan bankrupting the Soviets led to the USSR dying.
