Bruh I’ve watched the travel videos life looks so good. Top tier accommodations for super cheap, likewise with food. When I was looking into it more seriously, you can stay at a MT gym (training, bedding, food) for less than $1k/mo. Most expensive part seems to be the flight itself.

true also if you can there are some places in Asia that will comedate you with a place to stay food etc if your willing to go there and teach English in the schools there too i know a few people who have done this already

How long does it take to get noticeable gains/increases in max/reps for an absolute beginner?

I’m a shorter guy at 5’6” and I dropped from 180 to 145 last year, popped up to 158 at the beginning of 2026 and now down to 143.

Since January, I’ve been hitting the gym 5-6x a week, originally doing 45 mins of full body and 20-30 mins cardio. Now doing a PPL split and 20-30 mins cardio. I had to take 2-3 weeks off in February due to a bad flu which made me feel like I lost some progress. But overall my progress feels marginal, aside from leg press I’ve only moved up a rung or two on machines. Is that normal? For reference I could only bench like 60lbs with consistency and now I can do about 80.
I admittedly have lower muscle/higher body fat so I look 20lbs heavier than my weight. And I’m guessing I lost even more muscle during my weight loss since I did almost no strength training.

It depends, in general it is more difficult to gain strength/muscle on a cut but with newbie gains it’s easier, so it’s hard to say if your progress is good.
If you’re at 5’6 143 with minimal muscle I would focus on going on an aggressive cut down to a weight where you look relatively lean first ( probably about 125). Then go on a lean bulk. An absolute beginner on a lean bulk should be seeing gains every week at the minimum, any muscle loss during the cut will quickly be gained back and surpassed

Just finished Pure Bodybuilding Phase 1 by Jeff Nippard. I’d give it a 8/10. I did nearly every workout as written and overall followed the program to a T. I never felt like I was beat up too bad after a workout even with pushing toward failure often. I did get hurt a couple times, but I attribute that to form errors rather than overtraining/ overuse. The last few weeks though, I DEFINITELY was overtraining though.

Only thing I would change is making leg days a bit longer/ more difficult. Beyond that, past 3 months, my body has really changed positively. One thing I really loved is having a dedicated arm day, it’s also set up so 2 lifts are dedicated to weak points that you decide on. Towards the end, I opted for 3 additional lifts rather than 2.

Moving on to Phase 2 on Monday. Assuming this one is also good I may alternate back and forth through the rest of the year.

  • This cut makes eveything taste like heaven man I gotta appreciate food more
