Went to a cyber security expo yesterday

Was cool - got some contacts and made some connections

what was it like

My experience with expos/conferences is if you get with the right vendors it’s a party.

I went to Fiber Broadband one in San Antonio and didn’t have to pay for any of my meals and drinks. Skipped out on the one in Nashville this week because I’ve been on vacation the past 2 weeks.

Everyone was very friendly and social

A lot of opportunities out there you may not be aware of

It’s always good to actually speak with reps, employees or recruiters face to face if you get the chance

The recruiters are all there actively recruiting so it’s a good networking opportunity if you’re looking forward or even just tryna expand your network in the space

If there’s one near you - go

Ive never been to an expo but to a job fair for tech and I got many emails, gave out resumes to people saying they are really interested and all of that

I went like 3/15 with how many people followed up to my email afterwards which is actually incredible

I’m thinking of going to an expo near me similar to that because I’ve never been just to make connections

Mine just expired yesterday

really wasn't that difficult honestly, the practice tests i took on o'reilly were very similar to the actual test so that helped. plus i've been seeing/learning/studying everything in it since 2017 essentially when i started community college so a lot of it is deeply ingrained in my brain so i didn't need to study much tbh. i still think the cert industry is whack as f*** but my overlords require it so i must adhere to their wishes.
