i started with trailhead for salesforce - trailhead.salesforce.com
they have modules you can complete that align with certifications they offer. started with the salesforce admin cert, got a job doing basic admin tasks, then gradually started doing more and more dev work
which cert should i start with if not A+? because i've been reviewing for the exam and i know and learned all this previously.
A+ got me my entry. I had no other experience outside of school and a homelab, but I honestly think the A+ held the most weight

Crazy right?
Never feel bad for these publicly traded companies when negotiating salary and accomodations.
Be reasonable,
pragmatic,
and use facts,
but feeling bad?
Not the protocol.

Tech work does not seem sustainable,
long-term.
Thinking I want a career change but idk if I wanna do tech anymore
Whatchu thinking?
This entire field just doesn't mesh with me anymore.
Still got love for (most) of the people tho
I'm stuck in help desk and can't seem to get out right now. Dont know where to even shift towards

@snowtek already mentioned ansible, but terraform is a surefire thing too
build some projects! Most of those tools are open source and you'll have something to talk about during the interview.
Also, use this tool. NICE framework. It'll tell you what skills, knowledge, and everyday tasks you'll be performing as a Sys Admin: niccs.cisa.gov/tools/cyber-career-pathways-tool?selected-role=IO-WRL-005&quiet=1&tab=task
^ It's moreso through a cybersecurity lense, but still useful because there's isn't anything comparable to this tool for newcomers that aren't SWE.

Cal Newport is a sage that'll carry you through your career, especially young professionals.

I keep failing upwards in my job and got another promotion and still don’t have any certs or proper skills
Don’t be like me guys
My s*** so specialized 😭😭 gonna be screwed when I lose this
Negotiated a 20% raise tho and still WFH
I'm stuck in help desk and can't seem to get out right now. Dont know where to even shift towards
You have to specialize if you're trying to get out of help desk. IT gets more compartmentalized as you move up, especially at larger businesses.

I'm locked back in because I got a 5% raise
I was just hearing bad news at the time and was feeling burned out. After my evaluation I feel like management knew they f***ed up.
