Damn, what made you make the switch? More pay? Exposure to more areas for eventual C-suite?
Usually product is the sit-till-retirement role for a lot of folks lol

Tired of dealing with users clicking on some bs and being the only one actually doing anything about it
Need to hop to GRC asap

The dream Granted I do work remotely, but being on call is (obviously) a pain lol.
I really don't mind my job, it's just annoying dealing with that s*** lol. Some dumbass'll click a VERY obvious phishing link, and I'm generally the only one who'll hop on it quickly since I don't want to deal with any blowback. The contractor on my team has been with us for almost a year now, and I don't think he's handled a single alert. He will give his thoughts immediately after I'm done with it though

The nice thing is that you'll at least have a little more hands-on experience under your belt. Making a switch to IT/Security Audit will be an easy jump with a MIS degree, so you're free to do it whenever, especially now since the demand and pay is high
Probably gonna work on getting my JNCIP-SP
Co worker is motivating me to do so.

Nice to see some love for Juniper certs on here. Just renewed my JNCIS-ENT for another three years, working on the SP now

Oh, I'm already in security You are wrong though; will definitely be easier to transition into GRC. I really gotta start applying more. Like I said, don't really mind my job for the most part, but I didn't expect to want to go do something else only a bit over a year into a security position lol.
I was also kinda considering IAM since half of my current job is focused on that, but I don't think the pay is that good for those positions. Still gotta do a bit more research, but yeah, I think GRC is probably where I'll end up at some point.

Oh yeah I know you are. Just saying that being a security auditor would be a good stepping stone since ITGC’s are only a small part of the role but you get to grab the CISA and you’ll technically be in GRC while having exposure to things like incident response and testing processes like endpoint management and vulnerability.
I’ve seen IAM roles but honestly they seem crazy boring unless you’re something like an architect. And that’s coming from an auditor.
Looking to get into c++ for game development and just wondering if anyone knows best way to start. Cheers

Just a heads up, there's a Linux Essentials cert from the Linux Professional Institute you can take for $120: https://www.lpi.org/our-certifications/linux-essentials-overview
That's way less than you'd spend taking L+ at COMPTIA. I'd give that a brief once over before just so you're aware of your options.
Also, don't want to assume what you do/do not know about Linux, so I'll just put this out here for anyone who comes across this comment:
FREE Intro to Linux (< 1hr)

FYI,
If you're in Uni or in training for an IT gig, don't wait until you graduate to start looking for a job. START NOW!
Also, make sure y'all hit up job fairs in your city.
meetup.com is also a great place to find likeminded people.
And obviously, discord.com.

Anyone interested in AWS training? Well AWS has a free certification accelerator program starting on May 31st. The trainings are hosted LIVE on Twitch and meant to prepare you for the AWS Certified Security - Specialty exam. I attended a training for the Solutions Architect in January and those who finished the training got voucher codes for the test (1st come, 1st served).
If you're interested, apply: aws-sec-accelerator.splashthat.com
