I was enjoying a few songs off this yesterday, but not the entire thing. Happy to say this finally clicked for me completely. Love that feeling so much man. Amazing project that will likely end up in my top 10 albums of the year

It’s like those little moments Kanye does in his music that are just so satisfying but the whole album is JUST those moments for 40 minutes

Not to mention how f***ing good the vocal effects are. I’m a massive sucker for good vocal effects and this album is just absurd

My homie gave me a full a***ysis on why he thinks this album is average at best. Long story short, he thinks Jean wears his inspirations on his sleeve too hard. Namely Kevin Abstract, jpegmafia, and Denzel Curry. Ik y’all fw this album a lot so what are your thoughts on that? @safe @aaron_xx_

The influences are super apparent but I don’t really know how you can listen to this and think it sounds too much like any one of those

Plus it’s ignoring that there’s influence from Bon Iver, Frank Ocean, Kanye, electronic music, punk, rock etc

but also, i'm pretty sure jean has said himself that his music is reflective of the s*** he was listening to growing up. the smiths, gangster rap s***, prince etc.

there isn't one moment on the entire album where im like "oh this sounds like this artist" the way jean mixes pop, rock, electronic, rap is exclusive to him - all the songs sound like jean dawson songs. i can't think another artist who is making music with the same blend of styles and genres while simultaneously sounding like themselves
