^ Totally agree with Shwin.
Kinda crazy to me how people still don't see that the dunks/new balances/loafers + work pant + work jacket has been the new hypebeast uniform.
Don't get me wrong: it's a lot better than the eboy/fake goth hypebeast or high-end off-white/lv logo hypebeast, but it's definitely one of the hottest looks out there.
It only makes sense to be honest. I feel like lots of older teens (15-18) got into streetwear around the time Kanye released TLOP, when Yeezy sneakers (and Off-White shortly after) were really popping off. Most of them have grown up by now and are gravitating towards something more 'adult contemporary'.
Take:
1) the maturing of the streetwear scene altogether (as evidenced by the death of r/streetwear and the rise of the throwing fits podcast/community which definitely focuses on a more yuppie public)
2) general acceptance of wider clothing for men (result of more appreciation/yearning for the past times, finally following womenswear in this regard and maybe a reaction to skinny jeans peaking with the short-lived slp hedi trend not too long ago)
3) fashion's increased appreciation for sustainability+quality (more sustainable mindset of the yuppies/youth, thrifting is now more popular than ever, brands like story mfg, arcteryx, salomon, new balance, vintage patagonia and other 'gorp-core' taking off)
... and you've created a perfect platform for 'quality menswear but also streetwear, if you know you know’ with brands like ALD, jjjjound, Patagonia and New Balance to take off.
Gorp took off for nearly the same reasons if you ask me. Difference being that it's more focused on sustainability and a yearning for the past (and pre-pandemic times in general) manifested in going outside more/appreciating and enjoying nature before we ruin it as is happening right at this moment, instead of sitting inside looking at screens all day.
Not saying this is a bad thing by the way, I basically dress like the aforementioned workwear hypebeast.
Jjjjjjjjjound is one of the factors that show fashion has shifted from culture to who can afford it
Waiting for the day some rich kid takes jjjjound blanks and screen prints their own graphics on it....
