What do you get when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash?

    Hollow movie tbh.

It’s what happens when you try to elevate the status of an ancillary character to something more.

Joker becoming a symbol of rebellion and class upheaval has me worried about where our society is headed.

My worst fear is Joaquin wins awards for this embarrassing film.

I’m confused on who felt the class warfare dynamic was necessary or well written . Seemed like an excuse to have Thomas Wayne in there . I knew he was in it but thought it would be a smaller part or cameo

because without the class warfare there would be no reason to sympathize with the joker which is the whole point, isn't it?

Very surfaced level approaches to it's serious themes, which is a bummer but at least they attempted in the cape s*** genre so kudos there I guess

there still is even without the class warfare imo. I'd say the film makes the audience sympathize with Arthur mainly through physical and psychological violence.
The class warfare aspect is only used to show that "both sides bad!! chaos bad!", Joker is apolitical and the death of Thomas Wayne is as dramatic as ever

I thought the class warfare was to emphasize the fact that economic disparity between the poor and rich is getting worse which is why the city is powderkeg to joker's philosophy

I think that fact is shown even before Joker's first murder and the resulting movement/riots through Thomas Wayne's TV appearances

Felt the class warfare aspect itself only lead to anarchy

No reason ? His mental health and everything that happens to him. We are referring to more the garbage strike is great but it never truly connects with joker . He just gets tied up with it since he happened to kill rich guys on train. Maybe it’s part of the joke and odd storytelling though
