Personally a lot of my favorites are not necessarily based on technical difficulties but just how..... fun they are or how well they fit the song...

I was watching orange caramel's catallena which made me realize this.

    So some favorites:

A lot of t-aras releases, but of course the god lvl songs: lovey dovey and roly poly

Shinee's everybody is such a f***ing journey, so many points i wait for each time i watch.

Beast were gods too: shadow, fiction, good luck. Also 1230- amazing.

Red velvet: peek a boo. And i dont want to say dumb dumb is (coincidentally) genius, but it really was so thought out, its hard to even enjoy the song without it. It really highlights how high red velvet used to be (and how low they fell in their latter years when compared)

Girls day - something. F***ing iconic.

Twice - signal / likey / yes or yes / fancy

    Exo - overdose. Again, iconic

Got7 - look. Literally went to a concert just to see this performed live

Jay park - all the way up

    Bts - i need u

    Sistar - love my body

    Gfriend - me gustas tu

A lot of these are older but i just thought of what songs I've personally seen ppl go crazy for just to dance at events and sht like that.

Thnx for the recs and I agree idc that mcuch about the technicality of it either, things such as how well they transition are just as cool to me

A True OG. Then you understand the whole evolution of Kpop to the true global takeover we saw in the recent years spearheaded by BTS. Recently they was a campaign on twitter saying that BTS paved the way for Kpop but tbh i felt very offended by that statement. I would give title to groups like DBSK or SNSD who were the ones who brought it outside Korea in the first place but BTS is still made it to the Global stage by getting a No.1 on Billboards

so truthfully ive always avoided bothering if and to what degree bts have 'paved the way', and honestly i kinda just feel that way about almost everything twitter stans debate. it's just....not worth the time for me to type it among 25tweets to try to make stans think otherwise when they're...well, stans.

but right now i dont feel like going to sleep, and have plenty of space in this post to type without stopping so i'll think about it and give it a go

on the question "if BTS paved the way?":

first, couple things to make clear:

    1) i f***ing love BTS to death.
that's just a statement to give clear context, nothing more to expand on that

    2) what paving the way actually means.

and here is where i think is where we set the goal post. i think ppl spend so much time debating when they don't even understand the concept of what it means to pave the way. in more literal terms, paving the way means making a path easier for others to travel on. and people always make the assumption that insane success along a path MUST mean they've made it easier for anyone that follows. but really, paving is not by any means a fast process. it sucks. it's slow. it's a lot of dirty work tbh.

i think it's easier to think of it like trying to make it across a frozen lake, or for those that play fall guys, the tip toe mini game.

the thing is that the artists that paved the way are the ones that have tried and failed, or tried and found success, however small. if one is trying to make it across a lake, the next meter one seeks to travel ahead will either break, or will be enough to hold one's weight. regardless what happens, both results are equally instrumental in creating the path ahead. one result tells you where to go, and the other where not to.

so yeah, i do think of the disappointment the boys release had for snsd in the states. and the fiasco with t-ara and chris brown. and i think of the sm town tour. and the kpop masters show in las vegas. and wonder girls world tour. and the sxsw showcase w fx playing to like 250 people. and of course, no one wants to admit it, but it's foolish to pretend that gangnam style had no effect.

these type of marginal successes and losses in the western market are what paved the way tbh.

second, it's just happenstance that bts was able to begin in a point where there already was technology and general large enough kpop fanbase to consume and support whatever bts had to offer. back when s*** was 480p at f***ing best. when majority of s*** was not subbed. when no one had a twitter or ig.

ppl will point at bts stadium tours as clear indication of paving the way, but if that was truly the case, other artists and groups would reach stadium status as well. but that's what makes stadium status so unique- few people ever get there. taylor swift playing stadiums doesn't mean she paved the way for camila cabello to do the same.

what bts have done is sprinted across a path others paved inch by inch across at least a decade. the speed at which theyve travelled across this path has confused ppl to thinking they're the ones that laid it as well. but some of us know better.

ok im sleepy now. hopefully thisshit made sense

i was really surprised by the performance on tiny desk. as the tiny desk series continues to ruin everything it once stood for, this is one of the few "wait, lets just get this household name and play the instruments just a few decibels lower" performances that was worthwhile.

i had just finished watching their iheartradio (trash f***ing company, never forget) set, and i found myself a bit disappointed that they're kinda disposed to just do dynamite/make it right/spring day/boy w luv all the f***ing time. it's not a surprise. it makes sense. and if i didnt watch every single thing they did, then i probably wouldn't be so damn tired of it.

going back to the tiny desk performance, it was unquestionably fun. jimin was on one. it's hard to not feel some enjoyment watching other people enjoy themselves as well. for as cringe as bts seem to make so many f***ing things, whenever they perform, i forget everything else, and hate myself for ever forgetting theyre absolutely professionals w performance.

anyway, i got some more kpop vinyl records today except im tired af atm so ill post tomorrow hopefuly

Thailand, Protesters Pro-Democracy Netizens are calling for a boycott of Thai stars and idols who have stayed silent about the pro-democracy movement. The rally on Sept 19 – 20, organised by United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration group, was a huge success. Its was attended by tens of thousands of people from across the country. Also with active participation by Thai netizens.

The rally ended on Sunday morning, but people on social media continued to discuss and share information. They especially targeted famous artists, and manufacturers of products, who did not voice support for democracy.

Pro-democracy netizens have been campaigning to ban products linked with capitalism. Also actors who did not show support for democracy. Including blacklisting actors who had once joined the People’s Democratic Reform Committee protest against the Yingluck Shinawatra government, Asia One reports.
