I've always wondered this... To those of you who are obsessed with K-pop and such, are you guys learning or teaching yourself Korean? Why not?
What counts as "obsessed"? I don't think most international fans of Brazilian or French music learn Portuguese or French

Yes. Personally more interested in Japanese. so I listen to Japanese versions of songs when I can so I can pick stuff up/reinforce what I already know. Because if I’m spending this much time listening to a foreign language, may as well put it to use and learn another language at the same time. For most, it’s not that deep, catchy melodies don’t need understanding to be effective and also everyone is hot

Eventually I would like to learn Korean. First, I wanna learn my native tongue (Tagalog) before I begin with that though.
Yeah lyrics aren't deep and it's a complicated language tbh
And since anime are in Japanese you might aswell only learn jap lol

I studied Korean for a year at the University of Geneva. Not too difficult to learn compared to Chinese but with Korean there's a lack of good/free online resources imo which makes it harder to self-study.
just found out a kid from my HS is in Seventeen lol
he left in 2013 and i got there 2014 still pretty wild though good for him

Yeah that's mainly what I was trying to get at. If you're spending a lot of time on k pop related stuff you might as well try to learn the language while you're at it. I'm studying Japanese myself inspired by my love for anime. Even though I get sidetracked every now and then, it's a good hobby to study another language
Purpose really is lacking in certain areas but this one of the projects where I found the most Taeyeon tracks I'd replay.
