sometimes you will cut a suit when there's a high card left.. which sometimes is mine but eventually you will learn to start counting cards and figure out what is where
it becomes instinctive after a while

i don't count cut books.. so if i have a single card in a suit i'm not gonna count that
that's why i usually get extra books

if i have 1 diamonds, the 6
and i have 4 spades.. ace of spades, king of spades, 6 of spades and 3 of spades
i am counting that as 2 (ace and king of spades) , so let's say you have the ace and king of diamonds
if i counted that, i would be taking a book from you by cutting diamonds
does that kinda make sense?

You should definitely count at least an extra spade if you have 4 and 1 of another suit, you always cut 99% of the time

it depends on how the game is going, i will cut if i need to be in the lead or we absolutely need the points to make our score yeah
but sometimes i'll throw off and see what happens.. it just depends on what's happening during the game
if i start cutting my partner that's taking away books from them.. it's just not a smart thing to do

It can never statistically backfire over the course of play, there is no reason not to count a definite cut 99% of the time, there’s no upside to it. Except when you are trying to trick the other team into overbidding or when you need to give them bags
