I actually liked mov's opinions on Palestine. It's why we both initially followed each other at one point. I'm willing to lift the embargo on big bro and put the silliness in the past if he is though

yeah, who's talking about it though

no discussion, no one talking about the "hits"

one million copies is just travis stans buying the album 5 or 6 times like nicki stans, it's not a real metric when it's so obviously corrupt and broken

At least one million people are talking about it

    That's a lot of people

Cuz the main reason albums during that past era were intended to be listened together is because the technological limitations of the era and how the record companies could release music to maximize profit.

Yes albums did develop into a distinct and valuable medium for the art form because of people like the Beatles and jazz artists but that was just them using their possibility to release music in the best way possible

The lengths of classical music pieces is also a reason for the traditional 12inch LP side length limitations

I'm not sure how much attention spans factor into this but I think the other stuff is more important

Yes the technological limitations of the era FORCED people to listen to mid to get to the hits they like

I think the playlisting era has its pros and cons, but a pro definitely is being able to filter thru bland forgetable album filler much easier. Obviously good gems get slept on too but thats the name of the game. In this era, songs from yesteryear chart many years later like Die for You, See You Again (tyler), Cruel Summer, Miguel sure thing, etc due to this playlisting/tiktok era

That doesnt mean that albums are any more or less cohesive than they were in the past tho

I don't believe it has a place in music discussion. Or at least not the way people commonly use it. People just use it to mean a song they don't like. And because they don't like it they claim it must be unimportant to the album in the intention of the artist. Usually they call less substantive seeming songs as filler which is more understandable. But I've seen people call things like Revolution 9 filler which is clearly ridiculous even if you think it sucks.

Some prime examples of actual filler are things like Paranoid by Black Sabbath and random mid contemporary covers of hit songs padded out motown albums with. Note that the actual quality of the song is what distinguishes between the two examples and not whether it was "filler". Paranoid was shat out in a few minutes because they needed 3 more minutes on the album but it became an all time iconic classic song

Not a fan of people criticizing art based on things they are guessing about the artists intentions in general. Judge based on the actual art not if they thought it was trash or spent 10minutes on it or years. Just call the songs bad or mid or say you don't like it instead of saying filler

Yeah, I mean I see your point but it’s hard to accept in the streaming era. Because you’ll have an album where the first 12 songs are good to great and the next 6 are boring and it’s evident that those 6 are only there to get bigger streaming numbers.

    I have no beef

If man decides not to annoy me going forward I will unblock and refollow him. He doesn't even need to follow me back

I apologize for my unnuanced opinions expressed toward Kanye that led to his anger. I still don't really rock with Old Kanye that much anymore because his recent turn to nazism publicly has soured my perception of dude and some of his music irreparably however and will not budge on that

Alternatively man can keep getting at me in threads where the only way I can see what he's writing is in the preview window of other people quoting him lol. idgaf
