as far as the AOTY for Taylor thing...i'm taking a look at the prior years now. it's interesting because the competition is much stiffer now imo then her last AOTY win. Folklore only really had to beat Future Nostalgia in 2021. this year the votes are split between SZA, Olivia, Miley, boygenius, and hopefully Lana. and there's even another AOTY winner with Jon Batiste who has won it more recently than Taylor.

I agree about the more fierce competition part but at the end of the day, it’s all being set up to serve as a conclusion to her victory lap this whole era. With the movie, dating the football player, her rereleases, the tour, being f***ing everywhere etc.

She being poised by the industry to collect that win that’ll solidify her legacy in the eyes of “the public”

SZA no doubt deserves it more on artistic merit but the last time a black women won AOTY was 1999 for The Miseducation. Not even Beyoncé won for either self titled or Lemonade.
