DAMN is the very very cynical album, disguised under the mainstream assessable sound. You see glimpses of his true mind state on FEEL and PRIDE and it's not good.
Morale is him going through the painful process of trying to figure himself out and get to a better place. By the end of the album with Mirror, he found a new peace. An understanding and acceptance thats he's 1 man in this world and even the most powerful person that isn't a biblical figure can't change the entire world for the better, and he decides to focus on making his world on a personal level better.
Which I suppose is a bit of a depressing conclusion overall, but its better then being depressed and feeling like you failed to achieve the impossible.
DAMN is cynical but imo Morale finds a failed man who is bearing who he really is (I’m sure the reception to the album hurt his feelings even moreso bc of this fact). He’s def down and out on both albums. I guess to me I find the conclusion he ended up at tragic. I know how and why he got there, i understand the logic it’s just sad
The liberty of accepting his status as a mortal man is probably fantastic for him but again to me it’s almost as if he said “I give up, you win”. I know he isn’t saying that but idk. I find both therapeutic and tragic
