What’s wild is I just got hired at a major company and they’re still heavy into it even calling it flat out DEI training and having us do hella modules on it

DEI is more than black people/ race but the people you support do nothing but paint it as such with fearmongering and propaganda so

Dems could serve to highlight it beyond black and Latinos as well but they just expect that bloc to fall in line so

I’ve never seen it painted as just black people tbh. It’s always been any underrepresented population and I would say that a straight black man held as much weight as a straight white man in these hiring rooms, at least in my experience. Any non-white/asian lesbian was a golden ticket.

It’s sad but ive seen these discussions with my own eyes. I’ve seen a room full of white people cheer when a puerto rican lesbian accepted a job.

I’m not looking to minimize your anecdotes at all but DEI is 100% a dog whistle in conservative spaces / conservative outlets and you know that. It’s not about underrepresented people it’s about brown people and how they’re taking white jobs unfairly as goes the propaganda and brain washing

I’m not necessarily talking about you or your company I’m referring to how DEI has been twisted and propagandized by the right into a buzzword for minorities specifically brown and black one

Most private companies have/had bonuses. Which again, I don’t really think is an issue. There’s no other way to defeat systemic racism apart from incentivization in the current system.

The lack of transparency that some people want to exist when discussing this topic. People will go out of their way to pretend that there aren’t incentives, which is disingenuous and never addresses the real problem, which is systemic discrimination.
