I guess I just will always disagree with you two here
I’m used to hearing other languages, I’m used to subtitles, I can read quickly. I just don’t have those problems with foreign media or music idk.
it’s not a major problem, like I watched the entirety of Naruto Shipp with subtitles
This is one of the reasons I Thot u were British
brits like subtitle?
is it weird that even in english movies i watch with subtitles on and mostly read every line instead of listening to every word
I occasionally do this if it’s a movie that really demands your attention on the dialogue
like a Nolan movie or something

Yeah I watch stuff in English with subs bc it’s easier to hear it that way

I can watch movies in different languages and still enjoy them
But I will always get more out of movies that are in English because I can understand them

i cannot stand when they start whispering or mumbling and then I miss a word or two
and its always hard to know in advance which movies are bad like that so i just do always subtitles

Well that’s fair completely
I guess but as someone who has watched a ton of foreign movies
Meh. Again that kinda stuff is all baked into it, it’s a film, it’s visual. The tone is in part how the movie looks, how it sounds, how the people are staged, how they act physically. I can still get the emotions from how they deliver the lines etc.
You and nort get hung up on the language barrier it’s strange to me personally not saying yall are wrong for it I just don’t get it
I feel like I explained it pretty well

it’s easier to guess when you know the director and their style
depends on your sound system as well
like I watch Sopranos with subtitles cus of the Italian

i watch with my big speakers in living room every time
you ever watched with headphones? i never have but my friend told me he watches all his movies at home with headphones and it kinda blew my mind

An issue I’ll have with Spanish that had to just learn to let go
I wanna know exactly what is being said every word but sometimes I just can’t
However in English hell yeah those subs are on

nah but im curious now
i think we have more choice in the matter than people think. despite the monopolies no one is forcing us to be on social media all the time, give all of our data to google, etc
still trash in a lot of areas though, like for example if you need to buy a newer car youre just f***ed for data privacy there. and obviously we basically need smartphones now
on the personal level its more of a mitigation thing then just a privacy vs. no privacy thing
True but like I said that’s kinda the ostracized point
If you aren’t on socials you’re basically like not a person (in the super exaggerated sense obviously you’re a person) in the eyes of the rest of the world. It’s like you don’t exist and you’re looked at as strange. Me and @Camille were talking about it
It’s a tough tight rope
is saying the r word baf
not if you have a doctors note proving you’re allowed to say it
not if you have a doctors note proving you’re allowed to say it
ok i see i wont say it

thats true
but also a big difference between just being "on socials" and spending hours and hours on them scrolling the feed, letting the algorithms do their thing etc. theres a huge spectrum of how much we can both give away so much of our data and have our realities shifted by the content
like i said, no one is forcing that...but also another thing that factors into it is the actual addictive part so there kinda is an aspect of being forced. especially kids.
i def. dont think its just all the general publics fault for getting hooked on it so much
