This is the type of thing that convinced me their thing is at least partially an act
That's not something anyone would ever just do automatically unless they are like knowingly acting weird on purpose

All I know is that every single American politician’s first priority is the rich/corporations. Everyone is warned in advance on the details of these tariffs, giving them time to place massive “bets” on the market going down. Which they then profit from. Once they’ve achieved their profit, they take it and reinvest it in the market going up, making money on the other side.
Trump will never keep the market pinned down as that would be anti-thetical to wealth generation.
As a peasant, you basically have two options. Stand by and watch as your money is devalued through these practices. Or follow the money.
so we're ruining relationships with allied countries over money grabs?>
They’ll get over it
We used to be in two bullshit wars

I think it’s probably as simple as Trump thinking he can bully other countries into submission, neglecting how it affects us
and will probably back off the tariffs rather quickly when it most likely does not work and is just f***ing over US manufacturing.
but I wouldn’t argue that the ultra wealthy will do what you described
that feels more in-line with how Trump has historically/currently operated

The team doing this, contrary to popular belief, are not morons. If you wanted to generate an EPIC f***ton of money for the rich, this is exactly what you would do.
