WESLEYS THEORYI mean, they were antagonists for the main characters. But they weren’t necessarily the most evil characters. The racists who sold em the place and planned on hurting them were the real evil.

The Vampire’s weren’t good but they weren’t necessarily meant to be hated in the same way by the viewers. They weren’t racist or display any actual hatred towards the protagonist.
