So funny swiping through IG stories and seeing the variance in reactions to Charlie dying.

Saw one girl legit get death threats because she said he’d have some questions to answer at the pearly gates.

Death threats for saying things people disagree with are bad

Almost as bad as actually publicly executing them

I found myself in an extremist thought hole yesterday of justifying public execution and I now realize it doesn't align with my views on compassion or the ability to rehabilitate a mind or forgiveness

He thought terrible things but it's bad that he was brutally murdered. I am now brave enough to make a controversial statement like this

They won’t see it that way though.

I don’t feel any empathy for Charlie but it’s still fair to say political violence is bad. If I became a voice for the things I believe in I don’t want the fear of being shot.

I think everyone did and probably still is.

Whether you even knew about him or not it’s an incredibly emotional event and your best and worst thoughts can come out in those times.

Good on you for catching yourself but it’s natural I think.

It's easy to get caught up in a mob

But yeah political violence is bad and I think anyone would have a hard time arguing against that unless they want to pretend they are prepared for a bloody revolution online to look cool

I think people probably shouldn't be killed for their thoughts even if they are immoral

I agree it’s natural. Had conflicting thoughts on it as well.

Have zero empathy for him or people that think like him but at da same time feel that this can’t be the way we handle differing political opinions. It certainly is a struggle tho given how radical his ideas were

Yeah it’s weird. I still believe in a sense he got what was coming giving he supported violence either directly or non directly.

But at the same time he said many things that were strictly just political views and whether you agree or not you have to respect that right to expression.

    Weird moment for sure.

Both sides of the political aisle have been spending the last decade alienating people.

The right alienates anyone who isn’t white or isn’t wealthy.

The left alienates anyone who isn’t woke or isn’t a minority.

No matter which camp you fall into when you start to make people feel boxed in, trapped, hopeless and useless it’s going to result in this s***.

Politics should be able people coming together to improve a country for the general good. I doubt we’ll see western politics get back to that in our lifetime though.
