It's a great album and every single was a top 40 hit idk what this is supposed to mean

Not saying it wasn't successful, I'm saying that Thank Me Later was literally just Drake experimenting with his sounds, and still hit. The whole album was made to set the tone for the decade. I remember people needing TML to be this huge, overproduced blockbuster, but Drake didn't necessarily need to do that. He knew he was in it for the long haul.

It's absolutely a blockbuster album and was never considered to be an experimental follow up idk where this narrative is coming from

he got an amazing discography and i still listen to him but he is on that meek mill lane of

I ruined my rapper persona being corny as hell

as much as i love meek music

He's still a great rapper, but I think he was afraid of being labeled a "Hip Hop" guy, you know what I mean. He leaned heavy into being the degenerate unc and he just went downhill.

All of the biggest names in rap at the time are features

    Huge producers

Every single got a full music video elaborate music video and performed very well

The album sold like almost 500k first week

Wouldn't you consider Take Care the blockbuster album? Don't take experimental so literal either, when I say that, I'm talking about how Drake mixed in a lot of vibes within that album. It's a stepping stone that led to bigger ideas, that's all I'm saying.

It was a very natural blockbuster debut album and then he kept consistently getting more popular

Nicki Minaj album was set up to be bigger though, TML was about Drake exploring lanes and creating new ones. You can say it was a natural blockbuster, but was never a rapper like Drake before either.
