    How have they lost their aura when they always been about gimmicks and the switch is still gimmicky

    I don't even think it's a bad thing that they decided to do the Switch 2. It makes total sense with the way the console landscape has been over the last decade. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

    But the nintendo I know and love would've had a brand new gimmick for us to ogle at......... and a real mf system seller within the first year of release, if not at launch...........

    Things aren't like they used to be though. Games take more time and money to develop. But I wish there was ANYTHING exciting on the Switch 2, not just good, but genuinely exciting.

    Nintendo in Switch 2 era just doesn't feel like Nintendo to me anymore. Hope they prove me wrong with their next heavy hitter, but the magic is starting to wane for me. IDK if that started with Iwata's death or what, but they're just moving like any other game company now, and have really unique IP to hide behind. You could feel it start in Switch 1 era, but that was a new concept and they were able to coast off of the big time games they were developing for Wii U that they were able to rollover into the switch's first year.

    Also I didn't see the list from Bruises, are you thinking of the Switch 2 exclusives list I linked in here earlier?

    Wii U release year was pretty weak too tbf

    But they were underdogs with that godawful console so it was a little more excusable

    Console at launch had a new entry in the series that had the best selling switch 1 game and a month later had critically acclaimed large 3d platformer featuring an iconic character

    Everyone thinks Mario Kart World is ass, and even if it wasn't, it's still Mario Kart, there's 8 other entries that are damn near the same thing

    Why is that a compelling reason to buy a new $450-$500 console

    And I cant speak on Bonanza cause I haven't tried it, but people seem to enjoy it, but who's buying a new console for a Donkey Kong game

    I'm not even trying to hate on people that own a Switch 2. If you want a no fuss way to play your Switch 1 games on a bigger screen and be ready to go for whatever big titles come down the line, that's perfectly fine and normal.

    All I'm saying is that everyone I know who owns one hasn't touched it since beating Bonanza

    Those are all full polished games featuring iconic characters

    Why on earth would I buy a console with no games

    Switch 2 emulation is ages down the line yeah, not 10 years though, and I'm not particularly concerned about backing up saves for games that dont exist. The point is having open access to the stuff you own, not having to pay $20 upgrade fees to run at 60fps in 2026, waiting for nintendo to finally allow your favorite gamecube game to be playable via their subscription service.

    And I don't think you need to emulate absolutely everything lol. I've said itt today that I'd probably grab a switch 2 if it gets a sizable library of worthwhile games

    Like I totally get that most people don't want to tinker and configure s*** so I'm not judging anybody that just wants to get a switch 2 for the bigger screen and potential games down the line

    But Nintendo has lost their aura which is what this convo is about in the first place

    Back when things were right in the world, you could tinker with original hardware without getting your console beamed from Japan. And I get it, you gotta tighten things down now that everything is online, but I'm a free man.............

    mario kart world is the most mechanically advanced and highest skill ceiling mario kart of all time

    no mario kart game is like it
