I guess what I’m saying is if we do genre lists of top 50 rap or pop albums of all time, nothing after 2016 is making it ; maybe 1 or 2 at most
maybe if u dont listen/appreciate to anything that drops

The argument was actually about notably big artists btw
So they’re valid for bringing that up cause that’s what it pertained to lol
Theory: streaming stagnated music
Streaming killed the album

i understand that
my point still remains

discussing all music and discussing whats relevant in a conversation about nobody being relevant is two different things
i understand that
my point still remains
Fair

Many reasons but streaming era and social media killed mainstream artistry , you need a hot meme or a Tik tok hit to get a bag so that’s what mainstream artists focus on
I think there’s still good albums
Even some id put up there with classics ( but would get crucified for saying)
A lot of sequencing doesn’t matter to young rap artists cause they see the most returns on individual songs and s*** them out

its so depressing to see the willful ignorance

There’s definitely good albums still but if you get a good hit or two you could live off being an influencer forever , just look at 6ix9ine, 150M IG followers living his best life, artists get lazy once they get to that point, that wasn’t the case before
2017 had DAMN, Cozy tapes some Gucci tapes
2018 Kanye production albums, trav and migo collab albums
examples
Igor too

u can pull any year out of a hat and name good s*** that dropped
i can understand why people are sick of listening to mainstream music, it has nothing to do with age or willful ignorance though
most mainstream music is f***ing horrible and all of the REALLY good music is being made by artists who are focusing on their artistry

I won’t lie
What u listed for 2022 was mostly mid
Idk if you even listed her loss initially
Y’all keep mentioning albums from artists that been with us for decades
