It’s genuinely fallen into the bubble of “women’s rights” in a sense where her supporters are essentially operating with a chip on their shoulders of the mistreatment of women by society. Which is fair and true, but using this case to illustrate that is crazy to me.

Yeah you can't be absolutely certain, but I do know that if she gets off on insanity, she's not walking free for at least multiple years. Insanity plea pretty much universally leads to long-term institutionalization, and they don't just release you after they think you've passed some test for sanity. It's a whole other multi stepped, long term transition process as far as I'm aware.

But I'm not gonna sit here and act like I have the qualifications to assess what her risk level will look like when/if that day comes. If she truly was insane, then the concern for safety and punishment goes both ways. Throwing her into prison instead of a ward seems cruel and morally incorrect if she genuinely didn't make the choice to kill out of her own free will, even if we grant that she should be locked up somewhere forever. Not that psych wards are sunshine and rainbows by any means, so maybe that would actually be crueler. I get it may seem silly to be discussing fair treatment of a child killer, but I guess in my head, in the case that she was actually psychotic, the agent that committed the murders was not the same free agent that will be enduring the punishment.

Edit: just saw ur post about how the murders happened years ago and that shes not psychotic now. I have no clue what the protocols look like in that scenario but I still find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be any sort of post-trial evaluation.

No, this isn’t true though lol. Lorena Bobbit cut off her husbands d***, got an insanity plea, and was free in about a month.

I think it makes sense if you’re looking at it from the perspective of “jail or lifetime in a psych ward” cause either way she’s out of society and it’s kind of a different conversation.

But genuinely here there is no reason to keep her admitted if she gets an insanity plea because the thing that was making her insane is no longer relevant and wouldn’t be again unless she gets pregnant
