We’ve already been there for a long time. COVID was probably the best example that we already live in a technocracy
true i agree with this. espcialy with covid.
at least there is a thin facade its not like this though. I think we will continue to slip.
my undertsanding of the time period was people were pretty spooked a nuclear destruction was probable.
and climate change is pretty grim. i think the truth is we know it will adversely affect many things, kill many people and there is some runaway effect point we will cross. But the exact outcome and timeline is very hard to estimate. The nuke thing i think was scarier because it wasnt gradual and it was indiscriminate
AI definetly the nuclear arms of the modern day in pandora’s box vibes and the nuclear threat still exists, just with ai now as an added layer of risk
aaaaaaa idk!!
IDK!!!!!!!!!
It will solve energy efficiency. If it’s good at anything, it’s math. If it doesn’t, it’s unsolvable but I don’t believe that to be true.
i agree with this, if it continues to live up to its expectations
aaaaaaa idk!!
IDK!!!!!!!!!
nobody truly knows nort, the best you can do is estimate probabilities
i’m struggling to. i consider myself to be a pretty optimistic person but i’m not quite seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. what do you think? do you feel like we’re on a decline?
decline? no. big changes, yes
aka decline in some ways, growth in some ways, and other ways just hard to compare directly
not saying im just 100% optimistic but i feel like i try to have a realistic view of what will happen like in previous eras and I see human technology advancement in a very reasonable place to be able to overcome obstacles. (While potentially losing out on what some people value in humanity like from a philosophical or spiritual view which is rly subjective)
i have a hard time just seeing us going completely extinct any time soon though anything is possible. humans really hard to kill like cockroaches we gonna bounce back in long run anyway
dont we already know our solutions here
wdym big et
No, we don’t have any real practical solutions. Reducing the carbon footprint of big government and corporations is like spitting into the ocean. That’s why there is so much pushback against it because it makes sense on paper but can’t be applied to reality without a lot of downside
r u chinese
naw i fw them tho
imo its kinda pointless to even think about this stuff

i could see another 150 years left of the human race but the last 50-75 years would probably suck so bad
i want to think more like you on this though

youre right
people are held hostage by like a dozen companies who own everything and pollute unpunished. and now the world is completely dependant on it, that switching to renewable resources would take generations. and it was all by design.
i don’t know.
i hate the idea of bringing kids into a bad situation. suffering is relative and we have it better than a lot of places but yeah.
yeah i agree with you on that but for me its kinda the perspective of the relative suffering thing for me
like im not trying to say anyone should have kids outside their means, but for people that are equipped to be good parents i think its sometimes a little shortsighted if that negative global situation is the deciding factor why they wont have kids
but then also i dont think anyone should have kids if they dont want, part of this is more the preachy anti-natalist internet stuff acting like having kids is now immoral across the board

america f***ed up not taking advantage of renewable energy and becoming the world dominant player in that industry
Astra has already been able to take power-hungry games and make them run locally on an iPad at 120fps. Small example but proof of concept for power optimization
u gon take me thru there?
ya i will fly u out

i truly dont think no matter what happens there will be the end of the human race. there might be large reductions black plague style at worst.
life is extremely extremely resilient

i think humanity has passed the threshold of where we gonna just go extinct easy like that
like our technology advancement in past few centuries is absolutely nuts
i dont think we’ll survive as long as the dinos

this my fvaourite type of map
i love this topic tbh i nerd out on it
this kinda fire ngl
they f***ing hate us
you know todd in breaking bad how he was this like uncaring monster who couldn’t relate to other people because hes a sociopath but he wasnt like a classic villain
thats the vibe of higher ups at these companies.
its just pure inhuman apathy, morals are just pesky mental limitations that interrupt profit

exactly yes
