i believe a part of me does not want to be optimistic for the future because that means i’ll have to strongly reconsider having kids and i’m not ready for that
life also goes extinct man
we had dinosaurs
dinosaurs were not cooking like we are
levels to this s***
also wasnt dinosaur extinctions a lot more gradual than people think of anyway. like a sudden within 150 years extinction apocalypse seems more unlikely to me (tho still possible)
you know todd in breaking bad how he was this like uncaring monster who couldn’t relate to other people because hes a sociopath but he wasnt like a classic villain
thats the vibe of higher ups at these companies.
its just pure inhuman apathy, morals are just pesky mental limitations that interrupt profit
never saw it

we had dinosaurs
they lasted like literally 100 times longer than humans did, thats a fair run
and some dinosaurs still survived. we just call them birds now
and sharks and crocodiles and jellyfish and trees and fungus
all survived

dinosaurs such a broad category too tho seems like unfair comparison
what if we say dinosaurs vs mammals instead of something
pick any one dino and i guarantee u we had a better run
i will survive anything they throw at me. i’ve been preparing

I think we’ll be our own downfall, unlike the dinosaurs.
Humanity doesn’t have a great track record for always making decisions in our best interest.

the t. rexes in particular were pretty quick it was like a hundred or 200 years or something. i read once, could be wrong
but the others were way more gradual.
We live closer in time to the t. rex than the t. rex did to the stegosaurus
america f***ed up not taking advantage of renewable energy and becoming the world dominant player in that industry
And what about the rest of the world? And it only reduces carbon emissions and maybe slows down climate change a bit just kicks the can down the road ultimately. Again, it sounds good on paper but to deploy it in a way that actually moves the needle is very hard to pull off practically.
A better approach would be to remove carbon from the atmosphere but we don’t have the technology currently to do that in a sufficient or efficient manner. If AI can figure out how to remove carbon on mass scale, that will stop or even reverse climate change

theres also a big carbon capture movement funded by oil lobbies because its essentially allows them to profit from the problem they created by selling the solution themsleves.
i dont buy carbon capture at all. Reduction is the way. or a combination approach at least
there was no grass on earth during most of the dinosaur era wtf?
quality wise
hmm i guess we do win yeah if we compare the peaks with the peaks
but we dont know what it feels like to be a shark, a perfect shark life could be very fulfilling

theyre aliens on an alien world as far as im concerned

whats the biggest moment in shark history

Carbon capture is reduction of emissions. But we need a piece of tech that can mimic what 700 billion trees do.

The renewable industry would be larger and more established. Other countries would be trying to compete with us on it. The global economy would be more invested in it.
if AI can remove or we find a way to synthetically produce carbon, that’d also be pretty neat.

I get ur dooming but I dont think its gonna be that short form
If u had a child in 5 years they will probably fine and live a happy life
