I think it comes down to loyalty for Mach. Fahim introduced Mach to West and West introduced most of us to Mach.

If he had stayed with just The Winners and August Fanon I really doubt he would be as big as he is now. The Winners plateaued years ago.

    Word I hear that

I know this isn’t a new observation at all but damn man I do just wish Mach and Fahim could have settled their s*** with WSG and Griselda back in 2017 before s*** fell apart. I mean Fahim definitely has the right to feel disrespected about the Webster Hall s*** and whatever tf else because he def was. But I mean Mach was just on a crazy trajectory with them back then and could have been at the same level Griselda is now and to have had access to all the same resources and features etc. that they’re getting these days and I just feel like we potentially missed out on a lot of great music. Mach was consistently on a different level on Griselda s*** I think. We could have had another HBO another DGSN etc. and who knows what else.

Clout Dracula is hard but I don't understand a word.

I've always wondered too, rapping in a different language must be the most complex s***. Getting words to rhyme in the native language vs english. How does that work?

That’s like Hus Kingpin and SmooVth and all them.

I won’t lie though I personally would have much rather had Mach stick with them than go this Droog route. I don’t want to hate on YOD but he really is just kinda corny in comparison to Hus etc. That crowd’s style just complements Mach way better imo. It’s cool that Droog is a fan and I think he’s definitely entitled to a couple features here and there but cmon son.

I wouldn’t. Though he has made some great projects with Fanon, it’s without question Fahim and Mach singlehandedly owned 2017 from both an underground and mainstream standpoint. This guy Hus can’t make a song without throwing 10 niggas on it.

The only reason why most of us, including me, hate Fahim is because he went ahead and released 80 more projects than he should have. Otherwise there would be no Mach on beats like Fahim, ALC, all the producers from the Dump Gawd etc.

This thing with Droog I feel won’t last because one tweet from Fahim beefing with him and everything is over lol. YOD says or tweets one little thing sideways to Fahim and it’s done.

Fr, Mach rapping in Creole is always so tough. You know he’s always saying tough s*** lol. It’s prolly the same deal with rhyming, especially if it’s native

Mach and Giallo Point would make a masterpiece together. But Droog fits in well with Mach and Fahim. He's just as enigmatic as they are, and is the de-facto promo tool for Mach, outside of word of mouth.

I do wish this whole scene would work together. Mach & crew, The Winners, Divino, Nack, SonnyJim, Eto etc.

I have no problems with Mach’s trajectory. I miss him rapping with Conway (and West would sound great over some of Fahim’s more recent weirder beats) but all of that just wasn’t meant to be; Mach and West are, seemingly and respectfully, both alpha-personality egomaniacs. Could you picture Mach waiting around for Griselda’s forever-getting-pushed-back release schedule? Waiting for Benny to finish an EP when he’s got two Muggs records in the tuck? He had to do his own thing and doing so has gotten him basically the same looks from the old guard/industry that Griselda’s getting. It sucks there’s beef but both parties have done fine for themselves.

The Droog hate is still crazy to me, honestly, but I hear the forcing bars thing (“spittle toy”?). I’ve also felt like Mach collaborates with too many people too far below his level as a lyricist but I find Droog about as engaging as Mach; I never zone out the way I tend to with Fahim or Kungg Fuu. Really and truly, though, I don’t like hearing anyone on a Mach track but Mach; features only rob me of Mach bars.

  • And while I don’t personally have a problem with Keisha Plum, you all want more tracks like “Michele Ma Belle”?

  • 10 fav features even though I always prefer Mach by himself:
    Meyhem on “Wet Bally”
    Conway on “Midnite Xpress”
    Navy Blue on “Clout Dracula”
Droog on “Nothin’ But Net”, “Mami Wata” and “Apollon’s Wheels”
    CRIMEAPPLE on “Bacalao & Provision”
    Sick Jacken on “Anacaona”
    Hus on “Canary Rhombus”
    divino on “Smoke Signals”

    Five fav Fahim collabs:
    “No Pop Filter”
    “Barnum & Bailey”
    “Blackamoor Brooch”
    “Blackwater”
    “Kouign-amann”

Mach was never meant to be a major label artist. He's still getting big looks, Rosenberg just played him on the radio last night. Things worked out fine for him. Like everyone else i miss the GxFR collabs tho

Trust the lords y’all. They’ve seen Mach’s triumphs and failures and will judge him justly and promptly. At this point he’s already good for life no matter who he’s collaborating with. In 10 years he’ll be bigger and better than GxFR and they’ll wish they never let him slip thru their grubby upstate fingers

Lots of good talk ITT; I agree with a lot of this.

Droog fan here since the beginning and can acknowledge he’s upped the corniness and forced bars lately. I honestly think he’s split between being a rapper and comedian (bet he’ll try the latter at some point).

His debut YOD LP was rather genius and it’ll be hard to top in his career tbh. He should get back on his rock-rap s***; that’s a unique lane, and he does it very well. Kinison’s also a dope project.

Watching Droog rap will make him click for you: m.youtube.com/watch?v=vWKPwG7g0MQ

What do you mean 80 more projects than he should have?

exactly that...similar to Charles Hamilton (though I'll admit a more consistent quality from Fahim) he dropped way too many projects around the same time and kind of over saturated himself to where it's difficult for a Fahim project to really stand out now and days from the rest...you could make a similar argument for Griselda but at least they clarified which were mixtapes and which were intended as major releases whereas Fahim just dropped a bunch of stuff than acts like he's hated on because some folks don't wanna dive into all 80 of them joints lol

as dope as Mach is if he dropped a new project every week or two it'd get a little old after awhile is the general point

Yeah, I don’t like nor understand when rappers just dump projects on fans. Can admire the work ethic but it generally speaks to a lack of polish. Quality over quantity in music ALWAYS for me. This norm of dropping project after project is almost exclusively a hip-hop thing, and I wonder if that dates to mixtape days and people simply trying to eat from their music.

Maybe Fahim gets a pass because he was (is) young — he was trying to get his name out there, and a lotta young dudes see being prolific as inherently praiseworthy. He has his flaws, but Fahim’s dope for his age and can only improve — I’m excited to see where he’ll be in 5-10 years.
