FDM would be a tough one to beat tbf.

I hear you regarding Sadhu and Spook, but I could find 100 rappers who I would rather want Sadhu to produce for.

I did not know they had a "Kriminel" in them. But I know not everyone likes "Marshmallow Test" as much as I do, and some people don't even like "Squeaky Hinge".

I've still got Haram ahead of this. Probably Negro Deluxe too.

Very possibly his best album to me. The cohesiveness, length, minimal features were all much needed.

"Squeaky Hinge" wasnt very good imo. Loved the Conway remix tape Craven did, and also liked Cravens solo albums + the one he did with Ransom.

Do you find HBO overly long? Did this one hit a sweet spot for you lengthwise (pause)?

Yeah, I slept on all that Ransom stuff because of all of the terrible cover art Really great projects.

Yeah I definitely find HBO too long. 30-40 mins is always the sweet spot to me. This is immediately easier for me to replay in full.

I do like all the added soundbites and audio clips in HBO though, I wish this one had more of that. The skits feel a bit inconsequential here.

And would have liked more creativity with the transitions. I really like the way the beat on Blockchain comes in after that pitch shift. Most of the others just come in and as leave as they are.

Some added texture/detailing like that would have helped.

he easily could. mozambique drill, best songs on mhl, kriminel which is just spectacular, zucchini, cento percento, blk$ and phi slamma is remarkable

felt like a spiritual successor to hbo imo idk if mach will feel the same way but it is a lot more like that album which is why i love it so much. hbo ain’t even in my top 3 for mach but i miss that sound a lot and glad mach made more of that

Yeah, some MHL level transitions would have been cool. (Perhaps Preservation had a hand in that area there?)

AOTY so far but a few more listens of Navy's Reprise might change that, also really enjoyed An Overview on Phenomenal Nature and To See the Next Part of the Dream

navy’s reprise very close second i didn’t think he’d make an album as good as song of sage so soon but he did if not better imo cos i can bump it more since it’s got a much happier vibe

Those details that are missing in PfH are what make Haram so good to me. The smooth transitions, the soundbites from movie clips/interviews, etc. just raise the quality of the album so much to me. Also felt like Haram had such a variety of sounds that every song and idea was fresh.

PfH kinda suffered from lack of transitions, and some songs could’ve used a beat switch or an extra verse here and there.

Also I feel like the first half just eclipses the second.

I suppose I don’t love the “Squeaky Hinge” beat either @710sup but I don’t hate it either, and I like the lyrics. But I also don’t know that anyone else could have used the “Kriminel” beat and made quite that good a song with it.

They’ve got 9-10 songs together if you wanna count “Panel Lift Up” (which I do).
