how come player??
I realized how materialistic I am and that I've been buying gear just for show. I had more of a desire to create music when I didn't have as much equipment. Now, I have everything I need and more, and my love for music was replaced by my love for expensive things.

I see. That makes sense if your not having anymore it’s like wtf.
I dont want to blow up, I want a fanbase of like 10000 who rock with us hard. im sure someone from the crew will blow up tho, but thats not my goal
it definitely would be nice to have recognition on a level of 10k real fans lol
I've thought about for years
I feel like making something super unique and creative in your own lane would be a good way to get a larger fan base anyways
to a point obviously but there are a lot more niches you could have 100k fans and make pretty unique stuff if you grind at it for long enough and meet the right people
sure you could blow up littering the web with type beats of stuff that's like everything on the radio but I feel like that lane is a lot more saturated than 4 years ago.. also I have always found the idea of that boring

when I first started producing I cared more about gear too much but at some point I realized all you need is a nice midi controller, speakers and a computer
obviously you could go ham but I feel like it distracts from my process
I will use guitars though cause sample libraries never hit the same

i feel like thats all you need if there buying your music, merch, going to shows etc... and your consistent you can definitely make a living off that. i feel like thats the only way everyone can make music but creating a vibe and doing something unique is hard. i honestly think most people can do it by being themselves someone out there will relate and f*** with you. 100k fans is great the more the merrier but ill take 10k fans that f*** with me and do the aforementioned over 100k fans that will bounce as soon as whatever trend your following is over. the type beat thing doesnt appeal to me at all i rather f*** with people i have some kind of relationship with and build from there.

exactly I feel a similar way about having a smaller loyal fan base than a big one

This is so true.
I'll rather have a loyal fanbase than a big number on streaming services.
That's why I love Bandcamp. Still figuring out how to move more efficiently there though.
how much louder do you notice streaming services make your tracks sound?
wym? don’t think I notice much difference on Apple Music

Dunno if it's the distributor or streaming services really.
I upload through DistroKid and I've got the opposite impression, it seems to me that my mix has less volume, especially the low end.
On another note, I've finally made an IG account after releasing that Lo-Fi 808 Beat Tape in March (btw. thanks for the support creative sxn, y'all didn't even open the thread lol):
