I like the sound selection, it's right up my alley in terms of the colors I like to hear. I would just make the claps louder, if you're scared they're gonna hit too harshly just take some of the high end off.
Also try and get the transient of the kick to hit harder so it cuts through more. And for the 808 there's a clicking I can hear so raise the attack on it to like 10 ms or more to take that away.

Gain staging properly and soft clipping my man

i'll try to find a video Quadrant gave on soft clipping later today.
Optical talks about the same concept here (where he turns up the gain in a sampler to make it clip and avoid actually using a compressor).

can any identify this snare
you can get something similar by grabbing a snare from the June Miller pack and pitching it down so that the main transient is hitting at 200hz-250hz ish
Any recommendations for getting started in EDM music production?
what subgenre of edm specifically?
I write drum and bass. I can give some tips. DAW doesn't matter. Lots of guys use ableton/FL but I personally use Logic. It hasn't held me back at all.
Study song structure from songs you like. Take a bunch of notes regarding when things happen.
You know how jay z comes up with full raps in his head before ever stepping in the booth?
Am I the only one who does that with beats, and knows every exact stem/sound etc before touching a DAW?
I'm gonna assume I'm not but I've never seen it talked about
