I think the implication here is sooner rather than later buddy

But it was normal corporate talk is what im saying. You can imply whatever you want out of what he said honestly
In future directs we'll see a new mario, that seems obvious to me, but hey maybe miyamoto acknowledging this is reassuring to people so i wont blow their high and i'll leave it at that lol

I just don't see how Zelda could be right around the corner and not Mario when they launched in the same year previously

For the record i do think we'll get a 2d Mario this year, but thats more based on vibes and development pipeline. 3d mario atp i feel is being saved for the next switch, otherwise after 6 years we'd have had an announcement of sorts

I’m thinking of buying a switch as a pick me up and put me down console. I currently have a ps5 that I use for the big 3rd party games and exclusives but I don’t enjoy the online multiplayer games at all. After finishing a game I like I tend to go weeks/months without gaming and find it a chore to pick up the pad again.

I used to own a Wii U in 2014 and loved playing online splatoon, smash, mk. I bought the switch in summer 2017 with mk and BOTW but sold it after a few months due to uni commitments.

Is it worth getting a switch in 2023 for short and fun gaming sessions?

tbh thats all that its useful for nowadays IMO

There really arent that many heavy-hitters (at least for me) that come out on the switch in a single year

honestly, 90% of the year I'm on my playstation, the switch is mostly in the back and i turn it on for the occasional mario kart/smash session or if there's a nintendo exclusive that year that interests me (think i bought like 3 switch games all year last year, with two of them being pokemon - legends arceus and violet)

tbh, after tears of the kingdom comes out, i dont see a single nintendo exclusive comin out this year that im thinking of coppin

so yeah, as a secondary console its great, but if it would be your only console - even as a big nintendo fan, id say no

that's mainly because nintendo has no game announcements past pikmin 4 in june. wait till after totk drops, they will have to hype something new coming out. im thinking new mario, DK game, or prime 4 to close out the switch before switch 2.

Might be the universe telling me to grab 4 again since I’m in 3s endgame (that I’ll probably never finish again because the endgame is hell )

If a switch 2 dropped and it was 399 for standard and 499 for oled, which would you cop and why?

OLED cause I know and am already used to how nice that screen is and I can’t go back

I’m hoping that it just comes stock with an oled screen tho that would be much appreciated

I’m going all in. Whichever model has the most to offer.

Do you guys think the switch 2 is likely to drop in 2023? Not sure how long the OLED has been out.

Definitely possible. At this point all the speculation and rumors are pointing to late 2023 or sometime in 2024. In other news just another year where the goalpost has moved up.

OLED model came out in 2021.

I think we only getting the oled version. Its cheap for them to get oled screens and it helps with battery life

if you mean a true Switch 2, I think there's no chance it'll drop this year. At most, it would be announced this year for launch next year.

if we're talking about a new version of the Switch (like Switch Lite and Switch OLED), I suppose there's a chance we could get that this year (but I doubt it).

I think it’s gonna be similar to OG Switch launch where they announce it late 2023 and then it launches Q1 2024
