Ah, you're right. Now that you mention it I do recognise the "Nintendo Live" brand from some Japanese stuff they've done.

Feel like we probably will get a big Nintendo direct around the same time in September though, especially if switch 2 is still slated for winter

Yep, September Direct's are more or less written in stone so they'll most likely do something this year as well around that time.
