most of their recent consoles and handhelds had backwards compat, switch is the outlier but that’s because the architecture changed, from discs to cartridge games, etc.
N64 was the last library they abandoned, which made sense because they went from cartridges to discs with GameCube so it would’ve been hard to make n64 cartridges work with that console

Fair point for sure - physical hardware is one thing, but as robust as the VC was for the wii/wiiU I’m really surprised they didn’t adopt the same philosophy for the switch. Regardless I’m thankful, this is great information. Switch has such a massive base that it would’ve been foolish not to tbh

yeah you’re right, it feels like they abandoned VC on purpose so they could add that content to nso instead, get more money out of us :/

Straight from Nintendo president so it’s gotta be true

I’m shocked everyone is acting like this is new news when we already knew that our account is staying with us for next gen

Im more shocked some people seemingly forgot Nintendo has been doing backwards compatibility for longer than the other 2 and will always pursue it unless its impossible. They literally castrated the Wii U to make it BC

I'm not up-to-date with Nintendo stuff... Well not always. But that's good to know... I am glad that when the next NS or whatever it's going to be from Nintendo is out in 2024 or 2025 so will I be able to play all of the current Nintendo Switch games
Switch 2 will be console of the life
Can’t even imagine what next-gen Zelda and 3d Mario will be like
Leaks already indicated that, maybe a bit better too thanks to newer gpus and maybe slightly more ram

and DLSS/FSR
and DLSS/FSR
Yeah that too potentially. Its gon be good, it just needs to be acknowledged by Nintendo lol
so im thinking of getting a new controller for the switch. should I spend a little extra for a pro controller or get a third party one instead?
Pro

Oh yeah, definitely not tryna talk s*** to you. You a real one
I had seen so many on Twitter act like this was brand new information when it wasn’t
People want the next gen Switch to be the Steamdeck and the ROG Ally but those console have really strong negatives to them
Too bulky. S*** definitely looks like a prototype they brought to market. Worse battery then Switch
The Switch looks and feels better then Steamdeck and ROG Ally no question about it
People give Nintendo a lotta s*** for the Switch being under powered but the system has shown it can handle plenty for being so “old”
Next gen Switch will be something special for sure.

This switch would be the same or even slightly better than the steam deck so those people should have no problem with that

Well we’re talking about a future console, obviously every year the tech can get slimmer and more power efficient
Steam deck was revealed in 2021, a 2024 Nintendo console could easily do the power of the steam deck but in a smaller, lighter package with better battery life
Not to mention they have lots of experience after building 3 different switches, steam deck was valves first handheld
