Holiday season’s over, let’s hear about that Switch 2 now Nintendo
Might have to wait till March 2024 to hear something from Nintendo regarding the successor, according to rumours
At least there’s still most likely the February Direct to look forward to.

Got Pikmin 1+2 and 4 for xmas
completing the collection
Just started the first one for the first time probably since GameCube era and Captain Olimars nightly journal entry detailing his blossoming relationship with the Pikmins got me feeling like Kevin Costner in Dances With Wolves
Beat the first one
8 days to spare

They're so good at direct sequels that I think I want Odyssey 2 but I'm not sure
is it more commendable to hone something already amazing down to a perfect diamond like they did on Majora's Mask, Galaxy 2 and TOTK or to just come up with a whole new original concept

Honestly I really want Super Mario Sunshine 2 just because I feel like they could do a lot with a new evolution of a mechanic like FLUDD, I love how complex Mario with the FLUDD felt compared to the galaxy and odyssey controls.
But that’s just a dream. My best guess is the new 3d mario will be called something different a be a big departure from odyssey

You GameCube kids and your f***ing FLUDD
please god no
The only segments of Sunshine I genuinely enjoyed were the ones were Shadow Mario stole your backpack and it reverted back to hardcore platforming instead of stupid jetpacking. Also, not crazy about the tropical hotel setting. Still some amazing levels like the one with the windmills and highwires and stuff, but definitely my least favorite 3D Mario.

I never had a GameCube as a kid, I played sunshine for the first time in 2020 when they dropped the 3d all stars collection. It’s more mentally stimulating to have the more complex controls imo. Galaxy was too easy and Odyssey was too simple.
64 is still the best Mario but I doubt they could ever recapture that with a sequel, maybe an expanded remake with new levels would be cool though.

I had it when it came out but was never crazy about it. FLUDD and the setting made it feel not quite like Mario to me.
I think you can get more complex with cappy that you can with FLUDD and in a more satisfying way.

Yeah we've been over why you think 64 is still unparalleled and why I think Galaxies and Odyssey top it.

Right. If you could personally choose a new super Mario or a sequel to either galaxy or odyssey, what would you rather have?

Too late for Odyssey 2 atp, but I can see them dropping something new where they expand on some of the seamless open world elements they introduced in Bowsers Fury

I feel like Odyssey 2 could be really cool if they go more in-depth on the cap transformations, like instead of them all feeling simple, each transformation could be complex and have a bunch of different moves and controls so that they felt like full transformations that are as playable as regular Mario, if you know what I mean.
Also I could see them making Odyssey 2 and still incorporating the more open-world map design from bowsers fury.

So hard
I guess I'd take Odyssey on steroids but yet another new concept is so tempting
I can't imagine having being a Nintendo bigwig that actually has to make the call
