either tbh if u are referring to the clare mix and version without the clare overdubs, I was listening to the overdubbed clare fischer mix from 85 while I sent that message

I prefer the original version to the one with Clare’s orchestra’s overdubs, to be frank.

honestly all of those Parade demos we have I kind of prefer to the released versions, the stripped back and less layered production is easier to appreciate for me personally

Sidenote: I wish the ‘Parade’ version of ‘Velvet Kitty Cat’ had already surfaced; it’s been so long that I need to hear it.

There’s the ’85 version of ‘Katrina’s Paper Dolls?’ Hold on... I thought he’d merely recorded the ’86 one; I might be wrong, though. (During the same recording sessions as ‘U Got the Look’ and ‘Ponyride:’ late December 1986.)

the version we have is the jan 1987 version, he initially recorded it during the controversy era but in early 85 he made a mix of it in the studio and i've always wondered if he added anything to that initial demo or just straight up mixed it so he could present it to Susanna with manic monday
