The Mavis track..this was the first & last soundtrack he incorporated other's like this as the main artist.
This album has all of this on it though.
Still would Stand all time/Joy in Repetition/We Can Funk/Thieves/Question of U/Latest Fashion/Elephants and Flowers/NPG/
It's funny how little harmonica prince put In his music. There's Thieves in the Temple and then there is a song off "The Truth" lp. BUT he would put a harmonica player in his band in the last years of his life he was touring. He must have liked it more than a little bit.
He obviously didn't like to play it that much. I'd like to know what other track's he played using harmonica.
I can't knock an album that has Mavis, George, The Time all on different song's.
I was pretty disappointed with this record tbh

New Power Generation and We Can Funk are ok, but I spoiled the tracks for myself by listening to the Special Edition counterparts first

well it’s a polarizing record because of that film 😳
i think prince was right in this aspect, his soundtrack’s just needs him on lead vocals. i think if purple rain had dez and everyone on it, it would just be a various artists compilation if everyone had songs.
no offense to dez, the time, jill jones, etc but……these are separate works , imo.
although maybe what they should do is put them out on a compilation even if it is a lot of released material.
it will be interesting to see what they do with the deluxe of this. are they gonna give us robin power rap songs?

if we ever get a super deluxe for Graffiti Bridge I hope it includes all of the 1989 Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic songs, probably one of the most interesting non-finished albums in his discog imo

The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale is pretty good, it would be excellent if it had the og version of Old Friends though
